This reads a lot like the shooting at the old Walmart on Perkins Road, where a tiny female officer got disarmed and executed by a shoplifter back in the late 90s.

No, that was Vickie Wax. Dunn's mom was killed by two armed-robbers while escorting a lady to the bank to make a night deposit.

I'm not a huge fan of asset forfeiture or the government condemning private property for blight, but they need to start doing something about these run down budget motels that become a hive of crime.
Every police blotter and arrest sheet is littered with these Super 8, Quality Inn type places. It's an office for drug dealers, pimps, prostitutes and gang bangers who don't want to shite where they eat. And they're often run by unscrupulous foreigners who charge them a different rate or take a piece of the action.

Yeah the dude was trying to help. Got shot and the perp left him there, another deputy found him and no squad. He got caught down in Clinton county, started in Indiana iirc.
