Reparations are intended to erase generational poverty. What about poors of other races?

Only a small percentage of blacks have legitimate slave blood. Reparations are like gun control. It’ll NEVER be enough.

It is hard to accumulate wealth with single parent families.
It is hard to accumulate wealth fathering multiple children out of wedlock.
It is hard to accumulate wealth dropping out of school.
It is hard to accumulate wealth in jail.
Bad decisions lead to poor outcomes. And these aren't because of anyone else. What ye sow so shall ye reap.

This is true for any race.

People that do well tend to have strong families, value education, have work ethic, obey the law, and have a moral compass. Have the patience to go to work every day and set aside something for retirement.

You don't necessarily get rich that way but you do live better. So let's tax those suckers and re-distribute their "wealth"!

The correct way to calculate reparations is to compare what would have happened to the average black person if they had stayed unmolested in Africa and slavery had never touched them vs. their current state of economic prosperity in America.

Because if the people who were brought to America as slaves, and then their descendants, are doing much worse than had they would if they never had been slaves, then that's the amount of reparations (economic worth as a free African less worth as a slave). How much economic value they would have had if they had never been taken from Africa less the value they achieved in the U.S.

You know what the problem is, right? A credible reparations comparison produces a negative number.

Had slavery not occurred their descendants would be in Africa averaging only $2000 a year. Here in the U.S. they average $50,000 per year.

So it's only fair to get a credit back for the $50,000 U.S. average less the $2000 African average.

I’d support redefining reparations to the root word - repair.

One thing we know is that it is possible. As Thomas Sowell outlined in Black Rednecks and White Liberals, what we know today as ghetto culture was previously known as Irish culture and eventually southern culture.

Both of those problematic cultures evolved out of it. If there’s a way to throw money at destroying ghetto culture, raise my taxes. I’ll pay those reparations.
