We aren’t allowed to unplug or unwind anymore.

Everything has turned into a piece of partisan propaganda and divisive fuel. We have no communal escape anymore.

Where in 2020 do people of different backgrounds and ideas gather together to remember we have more in common than we think?

We desperately need to take a step back from the 24/7 propaganda being poured into us from every angle.

Division and anger only serves to strengthen the government.

We have replaced parenting and general outside exploration and maturity necessary to a well rounded youth and inserted fake digital media and fear mongering.

Something in our society is broken. And it starts at home. Parents are too selfish. It’s easy to watch TV and refuse to play with your kids outside and not pay attention to their schoolwork, etc. it’s especially easy in an age where we are so completely absorbed into technology we don’t even notice the world around us anymore.

Parents for the good of their kids need to severely limit screens and force an end to laziness. Yea, your kids will fight it and scream at you. It’s your job to raise them correctly not pacify them constantly in the easiest way possible.

I fish more now.

I'm happier.

Yeah, I'm outside more now. And outside with the kids more now. It's good for everybody.

It really was ok to disagree, even vehemently about important issues, not that long ago.

We’re beyond that now, and for the life of me other than logistics I’m not sure what we’re waiting on to file for divorce. No one seems happy...

Crazy how similar things are

If you just looked up from your phone and left the house it's pretty clear the chaos is all fabricated and not based on reality.

I did the same. I canceled cable about a year ago and dropped sports entirely this summer. Amazing how much more productive my weekends have become since then…

I did the same, although SO still likes a Netflix account. But still, we watch maybe 2 hours of TV a week, tops. Saved about $160/month.

I generally think paying people to pump shite into your house isn't smart. Still working on SO's affinity for Netflix.

I’ve turned away from all of it. The wife still needs TV on, so we still have some connection to the beast unfortunately.

I remember Michael Savage 15 years ago calling cable a sewer pipe into your living room. He was ahead of his time.

Hold onto your music and film hard copies if you have them. In the not too distant future music and film will only be accessible through a handful of monopolistic streaming services, all of which will be editing for content to fit political (read liberal) narratives. The Gone With the Wind controversy was just the start, now that Biden Harris are taking over.

I rarely watch TV anymore. If I do watch something it is usually a history doc. I spend more time outside in the garden, tending to my citrus trees and playing with the dogs.

I also pretty much unplug in the evening when I get home from work. I really only use my computer at the house to quickly check some notifications, pay bills and work on my family tree stuff. Most of the time I don't even use it.

I have to agree. When I’m away from the phone and computer it’s like everyday life. I already deleted Twitter and about to do the same with Facebook. Only other source of me knowing what’s going on in the political world is this forum. And I will have to quit reading the political board because it sure is depressing.

Spending my extra time building a new AR.

I've started watching wrestling again.
Not as good as before.
But, still entertaining.
No politics.

^^^This.

This should be thread of the year. It is so true! I cannot remember the last time I rented a movie in PPV. The movies are all political themed or plain dumb. There is no more comedy. It is Trump bash.

I have ROKU/HULU and go to Pluto TV where you can watch Johnny Carson.

We are orphans. Other then Top Gun 2 I can't think of a movie I want to watch.

Top Gun2 should be released in PPV because I don't think I will ever go to a theater again.

There's something about just sitting outside and looking at what God made that is more peaceful and inspiring than trying to find a channel that isn't hocking soft gay porn as a sitcom.
