for failing to do real debate but instead doing partisan hackery?

LINK

Now we don't have any cable networks that even pretend to debate, do we? I don't watch a lot of cable news. None in a couple years, actually, but it's because it's unbearably one-sided. I'd rather hacks hacking at each other than a bunch of people agreeing with each other.

Please stop trying to resurrect Jon Stewart into the conservative conversation.

We acknowledge three respectable lefties - Greenwald, Mate, Taibbi - and that's enough.

Are we forgetting Jon Stewart stood up for the 9/11 firefighters when Congress was being their normal selves?

Add Jimmy Dore to the list, he his hilarious & smart and a man of integrity

Chris Hedges is ok too, although he's a miserable debby downer who hates life and can find the cloud in every silver lining who reaches disagreeable conclusions. He is has interesting things to say and an insightful penetrating mind and a character of integrity (mostly) too

He really is all those things

And

His politics are STILL bat shite crazy.

I enjoy him sometimes but I always keep in mind that whether he realizes it or not, his own politics are 100% internally INconsistent.

He just completely fails to realize that the ultra powerful government he desires is entirely incompatible with his almost libertarian approach to personal freedom.

As a FF who volunteered to go to Manhattan on 9/11, I'll always have a measure of respect for him for defending the guys that dug on the pile and got sick from it.

John Stewart to Congress: "They did their jobs. 18 years later, do yours"

This. I have an incredible man crush on him because I want to believe that what he desires is possible. But it is not. Listen to JD on the reg (and have a love interest with Steff as well).

Jon Stewart isn’t conservative by any means. Even if I don’t agree with most of his politics, he’s at least centered in reality…which can’t be said for most left leaning public figures

having watched that probably a dozen times over the years, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s in the top 10 dumbest TV episodes of all time. no one actually said anything. and Jon, just like he does today, hides behind the comedic forcefield

What's worse is that not only is it NOT possible...........but the things he desires lead DIRECTLY to the things he most hates.

Yet, somehow, he hasn't made the connection.

The problem with Jon is he never gained control over his apprentices. They didn’t have his talents and were much more partisan and hacky than he was. There was always that underneath Jon, but he restrained that.

You can always tell a Liberal from a Leftist on their opinion of Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Jon had a very awkward interview with her where you can tell he very much didn’t like her but felt he was obliged to give her an interview. Actual liberals like Bill Maher and Christopher Hitchens love Ayaan Hirsi Ali, with Bill Maher saying she’s his personal hero and Hitchens saying she is perhaps the greatest mind to ever come out of Africa. She’s my personal hero as well, and we need to get back to honoring people like Ayaan.

I take offense to this… we also recognize Jimmy Dore, who may have had the best quote of 2020:

quote:

The Democratic Party is so corrupt, so unbelievably corrupt, that a man who shits in a golden toilet gets to make fun of them for being out of touch elitists… and it lands.

That’s a quote for the history books.
