Rand Paul and Fauci Square-Off Over NIH Support For Wuhan Lab Research

Dr. Anthony Fauci and Rand Paul squared off on Tuesday over the origins of the coronavirus, with the Republican senator accusing the National Institutes of Health of funding risky Chinese research into bat coronaviruses that infect humans.
Paul accused Fauci and the NIH of supporting 'gain of function' research (which is essentially the study of how viruses are transmitted) with the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Republicans claim American funding of the research made its way to countries, including China, through U.S.-based EcoHealth Alliance, a group that says its purpose is to prevent pandemics.
'I do not have any accounting of what the Chinese may have done and I'm fully in favor of any further investigation of what went on in China,' Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said.

It was discussed on Tucker Carlson last night, highlighted by an article published by guy named Wade in the platform Medium.
In the discussion it was revealed to me that the moratorium on gain of function had a loophole that Fauci signed off on with NIH approval to allow and fund further research. The moratorium applied to flu, SARS, and MERS virus work.

More like “America’s doctor” may not have only known about the origin of the current global pandemic responsible for millions of deaths, but he may have actually been funding the research.
It would be a huge story if true. And it, honestly, would make the Trump admin look bad for not knowing.

My Take; It sounds like semantics. The NIH under Fauci passed on research/technology related to gain of function research in effort to assist with a potential pandemic outbreak. Fauci I am sure authorized it thinking it was for scientific and benign purposes. The Chicoms took that information and used it to work on weaponizing viruses.
