There already are Canadian, Mexican and Chinese tariffs.

Candidly, I am open to seeing how it goes. Trump won, on this premise, so here we are. I'm pretty neutral as to whether it's going to pay off or not.
But I do think the idea that there aren't credible, legitimate arguments against tariffs are silly. Especially in the case of Canada, for example.

It’s high and will increase with tariffs. It has to happen though. Status quo is not the answer. We have to combat the tariffs that have caused a huge trade deficit. It really is our only chance.

I agree, I just think the hole is caused by spending, not the fact that we don't make shoes or TVs here.

It is some of both. The spending is absurd and should make anyone dem/rep/lib/john doe severely pissed off. We can fix a lot of that if congress will pull their hands out of the cookie jar. We run over a trillion dollar deficit on trade. That must be fixed also.

He must have forgotten that Trump has already done Tariffs once
LINK Trump says he delayed tariffs because of concerns over Christmas shopping season
The ones he enacted, Biden kept. And raised last year. So if tariffs work, why haven’t they worked?

The options are for us to keep doing what we have been doing or change and do something to try and climb out of this hole. It’s really as simple as that. Learn from history or you are doomed to repeat it.

someone tell us how we do that without tarriffs?
Tariffs or no tariffs, we're fricked in the short term regardless. Might as well make the long term outlook better.

The problem isn’t lack of tariffs. The poor ken is the cost of making anything in the US. Between labor, regulation, and legal, it’s almost impossible to attract capex. You’re gonna need tariffs north of 300% to equalize things.
I looked at a light manufacturing business the other day that delivers an 8:1 ROI offshore or a 3% return domestically. 25% tariff isn’t changing that decision.

Either way, we’re in for some drastic standard-of-living changes ahead. But no politician will tell you that.

Reciprocal tariffs are terrific bargaining chips.
Why does everyone scream pay your fair share until it’s time for them to do it?
If Canada charges the USA then the USA charges Canada’s. Pretty simple.

Is that what's happening here?
If so, why isn't the WH leading with it?

this tariff stuff is a shite show and the American people will suffer with another spike in prices for goods. Canada is terminating American contracts which hurts business. But worst of all, it sours our relationships with our Allies playing right into Putin’s hands. Sad.
No pain, no gain. How can we claw back against unfair trade practices and shiftless allies who won’t pay their fair share for defense?

You think the msm is going to champion a policy from the trump admin?

Tariffs are taxes.
So you good with US consumers paying taxes to Canada, Mexico, and China?
All three have colluded to frick America, and some of the cucks in this thread are okay with that arrangement.

Not just the left. Create a post even remotely questioning something from the current admin in this board. Even in good faith you’ll get completely roasted.
