re: Ran across this image, is it true, or is it Big Oil propaganda?

Oh, so true.

Remember that the hydrocarbons that have been extracted are not all of the hydrocarbons in the ground. One percentage I've heard is successful extraction of only 20 to 30%.
A few OandG guys were commiserating over a dry hole and said why are we trying, all we have to do is figure out how to go into abandoned fields and extract more. And then they all laughed.

Look at all the oil that deep water horizon well owned by BP could have produced. There is plenty of oil out there .

It’s a wasteland of a desert too

I wonder how much TX could counter all that has to leave the state, after TEXIT, with all of its oil.

More than enough for the Republic of Texiana!

Truth. Did you also know that we have ways to turn coal into a gas that burns clean? Basically, they grind coal into a fine mist and inject it into an engine.
Ever heard of flash fires at flour Mills because of the fine particulate size of the flour and suddenly a spark ignites the whole thing?
Now think of coal, ground down to the size of flour.
The ignitability of coal is much greater than that of flour.

They did testing and leased the land. There's a shite ton of oil and gas just sitting there. Nothing.
They leased a ton of shitty Haynesville, there's no oil just gas. Where are you located I would imagine the wells they drilled adjacent to you were less than ideal. They are expanding a lot of fringe areas now so you'll get your shot but it allends somewhere. They weren't drilling tbarnburners and just stop because they got to Salty's property line lol.

It's "without ANY knowledge".
You still don't know shite.

Oil and gas threads are awesome these days. You have a real life geo telling you facts about hydrocarbon creation, about the basin being able to actually produce US daily consumption, and a rig hand in the Permian highlighting the water disposal issues (primarily a Delaware basin issue, which is where all the prod upside is supposed to be)…and they get downvoted as frick! Then you have a buncha know nothing clowns pulling shite out of their arse that hydrocarbons are renewable, that maybe the earth was covered in oil and we’re saving her by extracting and using oil get a rain of upvotes!
Also some other poster was saying this isn’t propaganda bc the majors aren’t in the basin, Exxon focused on Guyana….Exxon is balls deep in the Permian having made a series of large acquisitions pre-2020. Conoco in the last 2 years has spent about $20B buying up Concho Resources and Shell’s Permian. Chevron straight up owns maybe a 3rd of the Delaware basin.

Oil is more than likely an abiotic process and even if it is biotic, would still be an ongoing renewable since all organic matter repeats the life/death cycle and not just dinosaurs at one period in the earth's history.

It is absolutely true. Natural gas as well. 11% of the Natural Gas produced in the US comes from ONE GUY that has a huge chunk of land in the Permian.
The infrastructure isn’t there to extract it all at this very moment, but there are new wells being built almost hourly. The green energy push could slow progress there, but the natural resources are there.
