Question for the socialists/Democrats.

Please explain to me in baby terms what you honestly see in socialism that intrigues you so much. Is it that you are just lazy and don’t care to work so you want free shite from the government that the rest of us works and pays our taxes. When has socialism/capitalism ever been successful? Will you honestly vote for someone like Bernie fricking Sanders or his little protégé AOC complaining about Republicans causing global warming as they fly all over the country in their private jet. Will you truly vote for someone like that just to spite the Republican party? I want to understand what is in these people’s heads that they think socialism is a good thing?

You are starting from the assumption that anyone who supports a social program must be lazy, unwilling to work, or looking for free handouts. That is not an honest way to understand what most of these voters believe.
Most Americans who support policies associated with democratic socialism are not asking the government to abolish private property, eliminate businesses, or take over the entire economy. They usually support a mixed economy: private enterprise and capitalism, combined with public programs such as Social Security, Medicare, public schools, roads, police, fire departments, and unemployment insurance.
You can disagree with Medicare for All, higher taxes, stronger unions, tuition assistance, or expanded welfare programs without assuming that everyone supporting them is stupid or lazy. Many of them work, pay taxes, and simply believe government should provide a stronger safety net and place more limits on concentrated corporate power.
Capitalism has produced enormous innovation and prosperity, but completely unregulated capitalism has also produced monopolies, exploitation, financial crises, unsafe workplaces, and severe inequality. Socialism in its fully centralized form has generally performed poorly and often become authoritarian. That is why nearly every successful modern economy uses some combination of markets, regulation, and social programs.
I would rather debate the actual proposals, their costs, their incentives, and whether they work than insult millions of people and pretend they all want something for nothing. You may still conclude that Bernie Sanders or AOC is wrong, but understanding their supporters requires addressing what they actually believe rather than the most insulting caricature of it

Is there really anyone on this board who will actually fess up to being a Democrat and why they support this? It is a great question though.

The basic selling point of the American left for the past several decades has been ZERO accountability for one's actions. Wanna be lazy? Cool, be on welfare. Let random dudes use you for a cum dumpster? Fine, kill the baby. Don't want to actually learn anything useful? OK, get a worthless degree that doesn't command enough salary to satisfy the loan, the taxpayers will pay for it. And it goes on and on and on

This whole post is full of retard
But you’d probably have more success getting answers from socialists/dems, if you went somewhere that actually had socialists/dems.

This place has plenty but they’ll insist they’re more conservative than everyone else.

The unaddressed issue on both sides is accounting for human nature. Greed and deception will never be overcome. Socialism makes it easier to take from achievers and give to underachievers under the cloak of empathy and doesn’t motivate the underachievers to improve, in fact it discourages it. This is why the socialist are always playing on “feelings and sympathy” . The communist lie in wait until the population is weak mind enough not to resist and then they make their move. Government doesn’t have “feelings”. It’s in its nature to seize power, thus the constitution was written. Americans need to get out of their feelings before it’s too late.

Envy, hate, jealousy…couldn’t cut it as individuals. Find comfort and affirmation in the collective.
Parasites need a host.

You left that part out.

Churchill was spot on about socialism. Really nothing more that can be added.

Capitalism and free markets have done more to lift people out of poverty than every other economic system combined. It’s been proven especially when you allow it to work. The only reason the Scandinavian countries ever had the money to waste on massive social programs is because past use of capitalism to build their wealth. It’s not perfect but it blows every other system out of the water.

I have read their platform and we all SHOULD have seen the interview of their spokesman this week. Did you? These DSA supporters are insane.

I was raised with the kind of patriotism that looked as America as a giant family. You help out those that need it.
Not everyone is gonna be the genius, so you help ‘em with the homework, someone is gonna be a spazz who sucks at sports, so you put them on a position on the field where they can catch the ball easily. You toss some bills to your nephew because his dad (well, my brother) is a frick up, and it aint the kids fault.
The family is stronger when we are all given the tools to do our best.
On my deathbed, I doubt my last thoughts will be “Dang, I paid too much in taxes so those strangers could have food stamps and better child care”
In fact, by doing so, not only do I figure I am doing best by the lord, but giving more folks a chance keeps the nation stronger.
See, neither of us are morons…we just disagree.
I read this board often because I like knowing what people very politically different than me think, I don't bother with debating here, as that would be an incredibly useless waste of time. The lack of respect here to differing opinions is funny, even the way you asked your question is ridiculous.
But I'd punch the clock here once to say we all mainly try to do our best and we all use the tools and limits we have.

If you believe, as I do, that the past is the best predictor of the future, please take a little time to read up on socialism and the many socialist experiments in human history. Then, maybe you will see why there is some truth in these socialist democratic supporters being called idiots and worse. There has never been a single case of socialism improving things, especially for the working middle class. Not once. Ever.

Please tell me how socialist policies and/or a government that turns towards socialism has ever improved things in the long run for anyone. There is absolutely zero compassion in where socialism leads. Read up on your history and you’ll understand.

The Democratic Socialists of America is basically the newest economic populist trend to make it to the mainstream. Trump's first campaign was the last time that one caught on this big. It's basically people holding out hope that the government can magically make their economic anxieties and general problems go away. But the catch is that there's no such thing as a political savior or magic political system.
It will be interesting to see how many trendy new DSA evangelists were Trump evangelists at some point and how much overlap there is.

It’s not mainstream. This will be shown in November. And it’s not populist either because communist policies aren’t popular among normal Americans.

They want what successful people have without working for it.

Good ol' communism! This board's collective panties get in a wad when Trump and fascist are used in the same sentence, but those same people have no problem using another political buzzword that they don't really understand (communism) around in a naive and braindead sort of way.
And for whatever it's worth I think that the DSA's platform is nuts. But the DSA is maintream. It's all over the news and plenty of people are having conversations about it, like right now.
Not only do you not really understand communism, but I'm also thinking that you're having a hard time grasping the word populist. It's textbook populism. But feel free to keep going and make everyone reading your posts dumber.
