Reagan - Bush I. No, actually Reagan - Reagan. Bush wasn't sworn in until 89, I was discharged in 88. US Navy 82 - 88.

Carter in 77, but I was 17, stupid, and just wanted the hell out of East Feliciana parish. Retired early in 95 with Uncle Bill running the show. Reagan was easily the best I ever served under. That guy was inspiring.

I have use the VA for a couple of decades and have never discussed politics with a provider. What are you doing to get them to open up on politics?

Slick Willie was president when I enlisted and the Magnificent Orange Man was president when I retired. The Navy was starting to go full-bore woke a few years before I left the service.

When I got out, nobody liked serving under Clinton. You couldn’t openly discuss it, but everybody knew. There was a general air of hostility coming from the administration towards the military

Imagine how bad it is now.

It’s not as far along as support roles but the infection has begun in combat arms as well.

that's what i've heard. have a friend who is about to retire as a colonel. he's jumped through a LOT of hoops to not get vaxxed. finishing out his last year in the guard. has a few months left. said it's a shame what's happened to our military.

I spend hours assessing them, and they will say things in conversation that make their political beliefs pretty obvious.

If they bring up politics I do my best to stay neutral and simply say that I don’t care which side of the aisle someone in DC is on, they’re mostly all criminals.

Bill Clinton was the President when I joined at 17. There’s no telling who will be in office when I get out.

Bush
Biden

When you retire they give you a certificate signed by the President, or at least stamped with his signature. I was mildly interested in throwing it in my “career binder” for a POTUS I respect. Instead it went straight into the trash.
