And you couldn't be more wrong. He comes from a very long line of conservative, politically active parents and grand parents. His brother is a conservative author.
I listened to him until about 20 years ago. When he was the only guy out there, he was funning, entertaining. Now that he has competition, he tries to out kook his competitors.
I was driving to the LSU game and for whatever reason he was on so it was the first time in a long time so I listened. Some doctor (former military) was out of breath trying to tell us how the gov't is lying and we're all doomed. So Rush went to a commercial break to let the guy catch his breath.
So then he comes back and the guy goes on and on and on until Rush realizes what he's saying... The govt is telling us we can't get Ebola during the first 21 days when they person is symptomatic... it's less than a 1% chance but still they're not telling us!
Rush said "wait a minute! less than 1% chance?!?" And the guy says yeah but it could happen and Obama hates America and he doesn't care if it's spread here. So then Rush catches himself, clears his throat and says.. um yes.. yes that's right... it's very dangerous and the govt should not be exposing us to that threat. Even he didn't believe it.
20 years ago he'd laugh that guy off the air.

20 years ago, he'd have never apologized for calling a slut a slut.
That is the most upsetting thing he has done in recent years. I mean, the chick was obviously a slut. . .spending 300 bucks a month on birth control.

It is just sad how misinformed you are.

I agree, and listen regularly, my point was that he his never tried to hide the fact that his first priority is to make money for the advertisers without which he would not be on the air.
Umm, that is the first priority of every single person on the radio.

True. But that does not equate to him saying he would pretend to be a leftist if that's where the radio dollars were.

Yes, because he loved going deaf, having his ear canal drilled out so to insert the cochlear implant.
But go ahead and send him a bill. He lives rent free in your head.

No she was a student at an elite private university demanding that other people pay, many for her and other's birth control.
She's also a Democrat activist who's about to find out that the phony war on women is played out.

I don't remember the exact amount she claimed necessary for BC pills but I asked my wife and she said the bitch was lying.

Hey Zach. How long before Rush hangs it up?

I am not a fan of all the advertising for the book.
THAT BEING SAID: As a parent, I have become a HUGE fan of the books.
We got "Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims" ... and then started reading it to our two older boys (7 and 9).
At first, they were not all that interested, and then a funny thing happened ... the longer we got into the book, the more interested they became.
Typically, I read to them for about 1/2 hour prior to them going to sleep during the week.
They loved the book and have retained a lot of the knowledge contained within.
That particular book is very well written, and the hard-back is a very nice product with good illustrations.
I know that some folks call in to kiss Rush's arse about the book ... simply to try and get a free book or an iPad or something ... but, I think that many are sincere about how good the books are for children.
Rush has been very open about what his mission is for writing the books ... and, the product that they are putting out backs up the stated mission.
I can certainly see how older Rush listeners with no small children or interest in the books would be terribly turned off by all the advertising.
Tell me a major radio show that doesn't have a lot of BS advertising ?

Commercials and Vacation days are his trademark.

He as admitted this on his show and in interviews repeatedly, Why would anyone think Rush or any other similar personality would be doing what they do for some altruistic purpose?
I have never heard him admit that he would be a liberal if it were commercially feasible.
You think you're the only one with principled beliefs?
His "confiscatory" rates he mentions as much as tongue in cheek.
And why shouldn't he charge them. He's a free marketer.
He comes from a long line of Conservative Republicans. His grandfather was a judge/lawyer who did some ambassadorial work for Eisenhower.
