That stuff happens all over the world all the time. Are we the world's police? Because the world is a helluva lot bigger than the ME and we've got a lot of dictators to get after.

It has a lot to do when they were threatening to nuke the entire region. Could have saved millions but nothing to see here.. it's not our fricking problem. You people are fricking pathetic

do they ever explain that the reason they are training the recruit is because one day that same recruit might have to go to war?
Do they need to? Isn’t it fricking OBVIOUS????

When I joined I knew what I was getting myself into. Most people that join do.

I thought it was about dead civilians for you. Now it's about nukes?

This is something that cant be explained to a civilian before Boot Camp. If they did nobody would enlist. Boot Camp is a mind reprogramming device to get the soldier thinking in the military code way. This means following an order even if it will likely get you killed. I am not saying this in a derisive or disrespectful manner. It is the only way an armed force will work.
To your point, back before Desert Storm a lot of our military was made up of people who enlisted to get a college education or other work skill training like air traffic controller or diesel mech. It was a shock to a lot of them when we called them to war.

Why would I want to sign up and get paid with benefits to join the military when we are in the middle of breaking recruiting numbers? That's silly. They don't need someone like me.

I think I can explain this. I’m part of the new wave of believes that are social Prog-Fasc. Our most fundamental belief is around a socialist free market. So you can invest but all capital gains are shared among all people. Effectively, we believe in a military and mandatory conscription but at a higher tax rate. For example if you join the military, you need to be taxed on your salary and all the resources you use. A military member should not be forced to go to war against their will. They should be allowed to choose if they go or not. That’s essentially my reason. If you choose to go to war, you should be taxed at a high rate for all resources you use in the process in going to war.
You’re the dumbest person I have ever seen that has posted on here, and that is saying a lot. I don’t say this a lot, please remove yourself from the gene pool and do not procreate.

Idiot.
Every person that goes into service knows why they're there.
It's obvious you haven't served...

I was 19 when I joined the army and was sent to ft bliss for boot camp. I don't think I fully appreciated what I signed up for until my unit was sent to Iraq and Afghanistan.
I'm older now and have the benefit of hindsight. I gained much from my years in the army but I also now appreciate a much broader perspective. I wouldn't make the same decision today.

Today, if a person joins the national guard or the reserves…. they can plan on being deployed sometime during their enlistment.
I believe that all the troops that have died in the Iran war are all members of the NG. The six on the aircraft that crashed were Air National Guard, and the ones in Kuwait were Army National Guard The regular army heavily depend on the NG/ Reserves.

Don’t they teach you how to use a rifle and grenades in basic? That should be a pretty good indication that war/combat is a possibility in your future. Hell, my dad carried a carbine while putting up telephone poles along the Czech border during the Korean War. Soviet assholes would conduct their live fire exercises just close enough to the border for gun and tank fire to be audible or felt vibrating the ground.

Pretty sure they believe they sign up to defend their country.

Military shouldn't pay any taxes....

As much as you love war and seeing shite blown up, you should go talk to your local recruiter.

Thats simple. It's because they don't understand global politics or trade.

We don’t recruit for war.
We recruit for the privilege of serving the United States of America.
