I generally agree that we provide way too much foreign aid but it’s pretty low down on the priority list in regards to slashing the budget. I’d like to see entitlements go first. Then I’d abolish whole departments of the fedgov starting with education. I’d merge NASA and NOAA. End grants and subsidies to universities that admit foreign students over Americans. Completely re-organize the military making it smaller and more lethal.

This short clip is useful because it shows how well-known beforehand what a waste of money and time trying to transfer the flying palace into a viable AF1 would be. 2/3rds of the way through Trump confirms that the plane is "going to the library" after his term.

As for "yeah, but Congress or the Air Force won't let him take it out of inventory," if Qatar made the transfer conditional on Trump Library ownership, nothing can be done about that.

Listen to Trump himself say Qatar F1 would be retired to his presidential library in the clip below. You think a one billion dollar investment of taxpayer money for upgrades would be justified in putting an aircraft in mothballs less than three years later?

The Reagan AF1 had been in service for almost 29 years and was a relic 707. There's ZERO chance they are going to mothball QF1.

Eric's statement about "the plan for now has changed...we're gonna use one of the older 747s" was made this month and is at variance with everything his father has said about QF1.

Maybe the Trump will donate QF1 to the US when it becomes property of the library, but there's almost ZERO chance that the still-hidden transfer document doesn't specify Trump Library ownership of AF1 at or near the end of his term.

The issue, though, was foreign influence. You think Qatar gave the jet without any expectations?

The Trump Administration won't disclose what the tranfer document says. It appears that Qatar lobbyist and Trump fixer, AG Bondi, papered the deal.

But, assuming President Trump was telling the truth and QF1 ownership will transfer to the Trump Library, there is almost certainly not language which requires it to be a static display. The Trump Library is a private institution. Trump and his family will be able to use QF1 as they see fit.

I don't know if you saw my edit to my previous post, but the comparison to Reagan Library's AF1 is ludicrous. It is a 707 relic which had been in service almost 29 years when retired. QF1 when Trump ends his term will be the most luxurious 747 in the world and coming off a billion dollar upgrade less than three years prior.

That link quotes Eric as saying that "the plan FOR NOW" has changed. I included it to give the whole picture. President Trump has consistently said that QF1 would be used during Trump's term and would be transfered to the library.

The White House position, after Eric's statement, is that the matter has not been finalized (see ChatGPT below).

All that, however, is noise about which 747 goes on static display at the Library. It has nothing to do with OWNERSHIP of QF1 after Trump leaves office. Ownership will almost certainly be by some entity controlled by Trump, Inc.
