Hell no. I don't want Canadians having any say in my life.

I only know 5 Albertans, and they are super pro-Trump and pro-America. Thats all I got.

I don't want them having a say in my life either to be honest.
I'd dump 95% of the federal government tomorrow if I could.
The federal government has no business being involved in domestic issues.

The majority of Texas is Red. People like me, living in rural areas have little control over what happens in the large urban shitholes like Austin and Houston that are infested by Democrats. I did not want a bunch of lefties from California moving here. They bring their shitty politics with them and make urban cities even more blue.
Hate to break it to you but Edmonton is no different.
Edmonton provincial election results
Year . United Cons. New Democratic
2019 35% 140,672 53% 213,546
2023 34% 127,773 63% 232,879

The party sits on the centre-left to left-wing[ of the political spectrum and is the provincial Alberta affiliate of the federal New Democratic Party.

I spoke to more than a few Albertans in my line of work. The consensus is they think seceding is BS and will not happen. Given this is a small sample size based on professionals in the energy field. Take from it what you will.

How would Alberta becoming a state lead to a warmer climate for them?
Posted on 10/17/26 at 2:02 am to VooDude
First off, Alberta is toying with the idea of becoming an independent country, not a US state. Secondly, the climate point on your list is irrelevant - Alberta will still be cold as hell either way.
That said, Albertans would make a lot more and keep more thanks to lower taxes and regulations as a US State. They would have much greater 1A and 2A rights as Americans than they do as Canadians. Housing costs are a big problem in Canada and moving to the US would help lower those. Finally, they can tell all those pampered "first nation" Indian pests to frick off once they move to the US. That treaty they have with the Crown would become irrelevant.

One of the preconditions must be cheap and plentiful out of state hunting licenses.

The con, from America’s point of view, is that Alberta isn’t becoming a state unless the Democrats get Puerto Rico in. That is a very big con - far bigger than any pro.

We have enough on our plate to go through the gyrations and minutia to fool with that. Let them secede and become an independent nation and then we'll talk in 10 or so years.

Don't believe any Canadian wants to become an American. They don't.

It would be awesome if they seceded, and then the Flames and Oilers won the next two Stanley Cups.

How about the secede from Canadia and we just support them as an independent country and be the first to recognize them.
