SB 116 is 5-1 with 5 red seats, one purple.
The others are all 5-1 with 5 red seats and one deep blue.

The proposed VA map is ridiculous.
5 blue districts in 1 City
This junk better get thrown out

Obviously District 2 was drawn for race. Therefore, District 2 is unconstitutional.

Legislature braces for redistricting fight
quote:
Democratic legislators plan to resist any efforts from their Republican colleagues to reduce the number of Black-majority congressional districts in the state, according to party leaders. The Times-Picayune | Baton Rouge Advocate’s Alyse Pfeil reports on the bitter redistricting fight that lies ahead:
Democrats said they would refuse discussions on any map that has less than two majority-Black districts and have noted that Louisiana’s population is now roughly one-third Black. “We are not in favor of anything other than a 4-2 map. If you bring us something that has less than two African-American representatives, we are not in favor,” said Rep. Edmond Jordan, D-Baton Rouge and chair of Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus.

They need to keep working.
1. NO / Jefferson + surrounding
2. NO / Jefferson + surrounding
3. BR + surrounding
4. Acadiana
5. Central
6. North.
Two northern districts causes some odd choices in the south.

There is, stop giving north la two districts. With 6 districts doesn’t make sense.

Maybe the blacks who really feel using their skin color is the only way to get elected can simply move into a district that has not been drawn for a particular race demographic.
One only has to go through certain areas of any town in the USA to see who cares and who does not. Have districts been drawn for asians or hispanics?
Much like our inalienable rights, not one is more important than another.

SB116
A little weird having Washington Parish in the same district as Lincoln Parish, but culturally, the districts proposed are pretty similar.

Pics of said proposed map(s)?
Here they are:
SB407
SB122
SB117
SB116
HB642
My preference is SB 407, it keeps Terrebonne, Lafourche, and St. Mary in one district. A close second would be 116, but they take a little sliver of Terrebonne and they put it in the 3rd Congressional district.

Is there some reason there can't be a N or N and Cent LA district?
Tangi and Monroe should not be in the same district
and no salamanders. have a NO district but that's it

Does the D’s opinion even matter tho for LA redistricting?

Caroline Wren told War Room this morning that Landry wants the one black district, but the legislature doesn't.
But didn't the ruling by SCOTUS state, race should not be a factor when figuring out these maps? So, if Landry is saying he wants one "black" district, then he is not complying with the ruling. Right?

Just spoke with somebody who is close with the Division Commissioner and the governor prefers a solid 5-1 map. Governor thinks trying to draw 6-0 will make 2 districts at risk of going blue.
Again that’s what I’ve heard.

SB 116 remains the one that makes the most logical sense culturally and geographically. Except I think it makes more sense if there was a way to put St Mary/ Terrebonne with the rest of Acadian / Cajun parishes, move calcasieu so that it’s with the rest of west east Texas, put Pointe Coupee and the Felicianas with EBR, and St Helena eastward with St Tamm.
