Free speech does not mean freedom from consequences. What do you suggest a school do when a student tells a teacher or the principal “fu** you, you stupid cu**”?

I was thinking those words are not the discussion at hand

Insert " my dad works for ICE and I am proud of him and want to join one day"
Person of color is upset by this and goes to principal.

But you go argue with yourself in a closet.

Those words are not the discussion at hand, either

SlowFlow, responding to Jimmy is useless.

Facts? he is not capable of accepting them, nor can he understand the topic at hand.

Dont waste you're time, I think he is a Russian bot

He has yet to condemn/comment on the RI or Australian shootings until it fits his narrative.

Sounds to me that the principal and that school should have you on retainer.

I doubt they'll need it based on the MN definition of bullying.

All you had to do is actually read the actual memo.

I did read it and it doesn't really identify what "language" falls under the disciplinary rules he alludes to. We shall see how that is handled.

quote:

Discipline for comments "making light of immigration threats or referencing ICE in ways that cause fear or humiliation".

Showing positive support for ICE could fall under this reference, could. If a kid says he supports what ICE is doing for the community at school, it's quite plausible the school could take that as humiliating, and causes fear. So yes, the X message takes liberty of suggesting a kid could be suspended for speaking positively about ICE, but it's not out of the realm of possiblity.

At least you admit it finally. Your schtick is avoiding the actual topic, poking legalese holes where you can, and finally making it about yourself. Bravo

Click bait sure, but to claim that the possibility of being disciplined for showing support for ICE is only if I want it to, is void of reason.

The TOPIC is an OP claiming that this school issued a policy directive that kids will get suspended for supporting ICE. That premise is utterly false.

You are trying to change the topic.

That's not what the principals letter says, FWIW.

It specifically references to ICE to bully students ("cause fear of humiliation" is the exact text).

Nowhere in the letter does it claim to punish "speaking positively about ICE". That's pure dishonesty (or an inability to read).

I actually agree with you.

If kids are taunting hispanic kids about ICE then the school should discipline them like any other similar conduct. My objection would be be to the vagueness (they should just say that) and the reference to "immigration threats" - not sure what that means and sounds skewed.
