Abe Lincoln
The man was a tyrant. And he wasn’t an abolitionist by any stretch. Abolitionists of the era were not fond of Lincoln. He defended slave holders in courts. He said he would keep slavery if it meant the south not seceding. He wanted to send all slaves to Haiti. He suspended constitutional rights for all Americans, not just people living in the confederacy. He jailed reporters. He allowed Seward to completely disregard the constitution and act like a North Korean dictator. His emancipation proclamation didn’t free one slave and wasn’t applied to territory held by Union soldiers. The British papers mocked it because it was so clearly an attempt to start a slave revolt. The British mocked it and they were a nation that abolished slavery years before the U.S. He was Henry Clay’s puppet brainchild. Slavery was going to go away regardless of Lincoln. It was an unholy dying institution. He didn’t need to oversee a war where more than 600,000 people lost their lives. That percentage of the population would be roughly 6,000,0000 million dead today. He starved southern cities and the Union army raped and pillaged while burning cities to the ground and made no determination whether it was a military target or not.

The president has been a puppet for the deep state for at least the last 70 years they don’t call the shots on nearly anything. So I’m not even sure what qualifies as a good president

1) Washington
2) Reagan
3) Trump
Madison could be included as well. He hated being president and being stuck in DC so much that he went home more than a month before his term ended. He is also the only sitting president who personally led troops into battle. We need more people in government with that mindset.

He was a practicing lawyer. Of course he took cases for unsavory people. That is the nature of that business.
Lincoln did think that America would be better off if the freed slaves were sent elsewhere, and who could argue with that?
In times of war it's very common to suspend constitutional rights. This was a war entirely on US soil!
Lincoln absolutely was an abolitionist. He thought slavery was an unholy institution. His willingness to leave slavery in place to save the Union just makes him the same as 95% of his countrymen.
But when Lincoln got the chance he acted emphatically and nobly.

Let's look at his campaign promises.
1. Build a wall, Mexico pays for it.
2. Drain the swamp.
3. Repeal and Replace ACA.
4. Hire the best people.
1. Fail
2. Fail
3. Fail
3. Fail
Hey, but we got Trump Bucks!

I do think it’s funny how much hate Lincoln gets on here.
Maybe he wasn’t the best but he was pretty good. And he will get major credit for keeping the country together, right or wrong.
The hate on Teddy Roosevelt is also funny. For as many hunters and outdoorsmen on here, you’d think he’d be revered.
Good chance many of the national parks, national forests, and NWR’s we have and enjoy get developed or sold off. Be thankful for Teddy, at least in that view.

Someone who enacts gun control by executive order isn’t in my top 40

Tyranny aside he essentially killed federalism. How's that working out?

I think most can realize federalism was going to die out and the fed was going to have more power than the states as the country grew bigger in size and population plus dealing with other countries. The issue is the pendulum has kept swinging to more power for the feds and states do need more say so. But I think giving Lincoln all the hate for it bc of a literal civil war is not fair.
