The Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will put plumbers and pipefitters to work replacing all of the nation’s lead water pipes so every American can drink clean water.

Not a bad idea, but most plumbing installed since 1985 is either stainless or PVC
Posted on 7/31/21 at 8:13 pm to Seldom Seen
How much is that going to cost us?

Good grief, I have worked on houses over 100 years old and I've never seen lead piping. A lot of cast iron and galvanized (which can also cause health issues to a much smaller extent)... were service lines from municipal water carriers using lead pipe after the teens or 20s??

Most lead pipes I’ve seen doing municipal work and around house have been sewer

It's not housing, it's probably old arse government buildings.
Military facilities that were built in 1940 are often ripe with lead and asbestos

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using lead pipes for drinking water unless some idiots in government change source water and fail to treat it properly causing the passivation layer to disintegrate. *coughflintcough*

Still lots of lead pipes in older municipal systems.
Opinions on both sides on whether or not this is a true health hazard.
Systems that move a lot of water tend not to have much leaching when averaged out. Systems that don't flow a lot have problems with high lead levels.
Not a terrible idea to change them out but it's not going to impact the entire nations economy and reverse all of the damage that's been done by the Biden admin.

What an odd thing to hang your hat on, especially since it won’t even happen.

Nothing. They'll just print this money.

They can use all the pipe and welders from Keystone
