I think Pete is among the more charismatic options, but I don't think that's the direction Harris will go.
My guess is Roy Cooper, the Democratic governor of NC. He's in a swing state and as he's 67 he's really too old for serious presidential aspirations of his own so a chance to be VP would culminate his career rather than being a stepping stone.
He's also term limited so not running for re-election (or any other office) right now. He's also friends with Harris dating back to their days as AG's in different states. They've campaigned together a ton in NC already.
Trump won NC by less than 2 points in the last election (1.3% advantage).
But who knows. That just seems like a logical choice who'd have no reason to decline and would help her win.

That's not my opinion. I'm trying not to give one. I'm just saying it's fair if you want to have that opinion. It doesn't reflect on if she's qualified. She DOES have significant related experience.

The only way Trump screws this up is by going all personal and dropping N bombs at her. And he's not that crazy.

And he has to survive the non-stop gaslighting that she will do. She has no facts on her side so at the end of the day she will stir up things that don't exist or were never said to claim sexism or racism. He will have to be extremely patient and not engage those things.

Trump can certainly screw it up. Look at his convention speech. It was fabulous. Historic! If he had just stopped about 10 minutes after talking about the assassination attempt, talked about being president for everyone and uniting us, then given us 4-5 clear bullet points about what he'd do (drill, inflation/jobs, border, foreign policy) and then finished, it would have been as he would say, "the best convention speech anyone has ever given." Instead, he continued to ramble on for a long arse time and even lost a lot of his party faithful viewers. I was barely paying attention by the last 15 min or so.
He can certainly screw this up!
