Honkus can tell you what the next 48 hours of your life will be like, most likely.

All the major carriers have suspended operations. At least for today. The cartels have a 5pm deadline to have their demands met or they will start invading hotels with Americans. Guess you need to sit and wait to see how that plays out.

If they actually are stupid enough to take American hostages, you can forget about southwest flying anytime soon. O, and dont let them take you to the next location if the cartel tries to kidnap you.

Godspeed. truly. scary shite.

Instead of the Middle East we should be concentrating on our communist neighbor to the north and failed drug state to the south

Sorry that doesn’t benefit Israel so we won’t be doing anything.

I have been all over Mexico, including the inner desert cities. Its all about situational awareness, really. The cartel isn't going to randomly F with you and most people there are easy-going. I have walked down the streets of Torreón at night after going to bars with some business associates there and it felt as safe as NOLA or parts of Houston

Maybe you’ve managed to stay safe because they see you bumping around like that and think you’re even crazier than they are.

In all seriousness, continued safety for you in your travels.

This is a different scale, but Mexico has never really given an effective

Those were all caught in the crossfire accidents. Doesn’t excuse the behavior but none of the tourists were targeted in those attacks.

I was in Cancun shortly after the 2024 incident and they had military all over the beaches doing patrols. To say they don’t care about the tourist industry after those incidents, is definitely not true.

Was back again two weeks ago for a conference and had a great time. Never felt unsafe at all.

Dinner plans at 5 on resort property, probably keeping it. I can not find any confirmed reports of cartels threatening to enter hotels but I am keeping an eye on it. We are about 3 miles from where most of the worse stuff is happening. Hopefully things die down tonight and don't escalate...

It's weird how sanguine people are about this shite. Name another country people just casually go to where this kind of thing happens fairly frequently. Even just the casual indifference to "guards with machine guns".

This is a country where the military has lost actual battles to cartels.

This article is the best:

quote:

Canadians and others in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, have been ordered to shelter in place amid street violence spurred by a military operation that killed a cartel leader.

In the popular Mexican travel destination, as well as other cities in country’s southwest, criminal groups have set up roadblocks with burning vehicles, says a travel advisory from the Canadian government.

“There have been shootouts with security forces and explosions,” according to the advisory, which urges Canadians to avoid all non-essential travel to multiple regions in Mexico.

It’s not yet clear if there are any civilian injuries from the violence.

“A shelter in place order is in effect in Puerto Vallarta,” a spokesperson with Global Affairs Canada told the Star. “Canadian officials are providing consular assistance.”

We need to park some Marines and SEALs off the coast of Mexico and conduct nightly raids on the cartels.

Welp, I figured it would take some sort of terror against American tourists. If that happens, im calling it now, Trump is sending in whatever it takes to save the Americans stranded there.

Once and for all, that shithole is getting cleaned the frick out

You could likely find a cheap flight to Tehran.

Why are Americans going to these Mexican tourist spots anyway now?

Mexico has so much more to offer for tourism, unfortunately it's no longer safe for Gringos to visit safely.
