It's not fair that Portland shut down these Walmarts. Did Walmart have anything to say about this?

No Problem.. Moncommie will show them how to run a grocery store without making a profit.
Public housing has been doing that for decades.

Ha, why do so many accounts feel the need to pimp old news stories with no context, not even a date?

Be a hero and go open a store there otherwise you don't care about those people.

When I lived in Beaverton, there weren't any Walmarts near me, but mainly because Fred Meyer was firmly entrenched there and the local people loved Fred Meyer, but didn't care for Walmart - for all the usual reasons.

It was a difficult market to break into for Walmart because people in Portland preferred Fred Meyer, which is owned by Kroger.
Yeah, when I lived in WA we didn't get a Walmart until 2012 or so because Fred Meyer is so entrenched in the PNW. I think the entire South Sound region (over a million people) still only has 3 (which seem to mostly stay in business because they surround Ft Lewis which supplies them with non-local shoppers).

Both of them?

There were only two Walmarts in Portland.

Also, didn't this occur in 2023?

Portland actually closed Walmart down years ago when they decided to go full Marxist. The decision was made and Walmart had no say in the matter.
