Or, what they could start enforcing the laws on the books.

Portland closed the last Blockbuster video just a year ago. Which means it was open longer than the Wal marts, which closed in 2023. Wild times

“Now, what are we going to do?” I’ve got an idea: how about you start voting for people that will clean up this shite instead of enabling it. Novel idea, right?

It's a corporation, not a charity.
Have you started a business, and put the wants of your employees over the success of the business? Go ahead and do that, show us how well it works.
It's a fast train to bankruptcy.
Sure, a business can put in an effort to do well for their employees, but if that is done to the level that makes the business fail, well, then those employees are out of a job. Not a good ending for anyone.

What a dumb-arsed posting!
Without profit there is no business.
Do you work without earning a profit?
The only person I know who works without profit is President Donald J Trump.

Capitalism has pulled more people out of poverty than anything in human history. What you should be advocating for is people to act like they have sense. Options and competition help the people but they abused it. Now wal mart is asking their ball and going home

Good. If you can’t act civilized in a civilized society then you should not benefit from that which society has to offer.

Well, well... if it isn't the consequences of my own actions?

Portland isn't closing them, Wal-Mart is closing them.... That looks like the city of Portland is making them close.
Letting people shoplift has it's consequences...

Damn, are Portlanders that stupid? It's Portland, I'm sure there's other grocery stores.

You might want to add a sarcasm meter to that, it looks like a lot of people thought you were serious.

Looks like Portland successfully created a food desert. Maybe the morons that live in Portland can open a People's Antifa Mart or something to take up the slack.
Our Lefty friends consider this “progress”ive.
They believe they are the enlightened ones, you know.

Theft doesn't allow for profits, they were probably taking a hit. You do realize the profit margins with grocery store is nil, right.

Affordable? Walmart has raised their prices on everything including their Equate and Great Value Brands... Their prices are on par with the small chain grocery stores on brand names...
Not so.
I shop sales of my local stores. I don’t compare fresh meats and vegetables because their quantity and value must be visually determined. Also the price difference is not large.
But often frozen seafoods are cheaper at Walmart. Frozen foods like canned or boxed foods are more likely to be significantly cheaper at Wallyworld.
Walmart is generally cheaper or about equal to perhaps 60% of items on sale from my locals.
I try to buy from my locally owned grocery stores always. I will even pay SLIGHTLY more than Walmart.
But there is still a difference!

That's what someone that has never risked everything they have to own their own business says.
