The oddity, and I guess as a warning for those who didn’t know the age of sexual consent is 17 in many states.

What is amazing is if this is true, and this would have happened in Louisiana, there would be no crime at all. (17 is age of consent here.) So, the way our country is set up, you can do something in Louisiana and it is perfectly ok, or you can go to Florida, do the same thing, and get jailed and labeled a sex offender for the rest of your life, and have to register and notify neighbors that you are a sex offender. Truly odd the way this is treated differently based on location. (I guess legalized pot is similar...).

It's a bullshite law. I can recall 15 yr old girls practically throwing themselves at me and my buddies when we were 18. This was back in the 80s when it wasn't made such a big deal of. Parents ought to keep their promiscuous daughters at home if they don't want them putting out. They will lie about their age and many appear several years older. Couple that with the raging hormones of a teenage boy and there is a recipe for disaster.

If the guy is really guilty of seeking out 17 and under girls for sex that is one thing - if he honestly thought this was a woman of legal age that is entirely different. (especially in this day and age of sex as just another form of entertainment - by both sexes)
I am no fan of casual sex - regardless of age. I don't morally agree with anything but long term committed relationships for sex.
But I understand that is archaic as human sacrifice these days, I don't even judge those who engage in it, unless that is all they do.
As for Gaetz - I agree with his political stance.
As for his potential trouble with the law in this case - let him be treated just like ANY other person in the same situation.
If there is ZERO interest interest in Hunter Biden (or Joe for that matter) then I say = a pox on all your houses and I will not stand for treating one different than the other.
And if you even intimate that there has not been an ever increasing double-standard in law enforcement for the past 20 years with respect to pure political ideologies, then I will lose ANY respect for you that current hold.
My credo = be fair.

I think you have to know they were underage for charges to stick. Texas law uses the term “knowingly” quite a bit in its sex statutes.

You are literally arguing the laptop story is propaganda when the FBI has the laptop and there are multiple pictures on the internet of him that came from the laptop. Maybe you don't know this because you never looked at a news site that actually reported on it or maybe you are just FOS.
