That story is hilarious. None of it stands up to even the least bit of scrutiny at all.
All of this was known from the very start, but morons like the OP wanted so bad from America-first policies to fail that they weren't willing to use their brains and realize they were placing their hopes in an obvious liar with a history of lying.
If Gaetz wanted a preemptive pardon, he would have gotten one. Trump would have definitely done that. The very fact that he didn't get a pardon proves this part of the story false. It's so outlandish that it's hilarious WaPo thought it was worthy of print.
