I would have screamed at him to drop and roll. I know someone in an explosion that had a worker drop and roll him in the snow and saved him. Maybe he walked away from the chemicals and dropped and rolled?

5280 feet in a mile
1000 x 60 x 60 / 5280 = 681 mph going down..
