quote:

Within whiteness, the organization of social life is in terms of a center and margins that are based on dominance, control, and a transcendent figure that is consistently and structurally ascribed value over and above other figures. In this paper, we synthesize literature from Critical Whiteness Studies and Critical Race Theory to articulate analytic markers for whiteness, and use the markers to identify and analyze whiteness as it shows up in an introductory physics classroom interaction. We name mechanisms that facilitate the reproduction of whiteness in this local context, including a particular representation of energy, physics values, whiteboards, gendered social norms, and the structure of schooling. In naming whiteness and offering a set of analytic markers, our aim is to provide instructors and researchers with a tool for identifying whiteness in their own contexts. Alongside our discussion, which imagines new possibilities for physics teaching and learning, we hope our work contributes to Critical Whiteness Studies’ goal of dismantling whiteness.

I was told Critical Race Theory isn't real. That it was a myth, like ANTIFA.

Isaac Newton was a known klansman. It makes sense.

Physics has been racist for years because math is heavily involved just short of taking the “conceptual physics” route.

Thus, Asians will do better and other groups will not.

Remember the group of people wrote fake academic papers, but included enough grievence buzz words and they all got published?

This looks like one of those.

LINK

quote:

The trio set out with the intent to expose problems in what they called "grievance studies", referring to academic areas where they claim "a culture has developed in which only certain conclusions are allowed ... and put social grievances ahead of objective truth".[1][2][3] As such, the trio, identifying themselves as leftists and liberals, described their project as an attempt to raise awareness for what they believed was the damage that postmodernism and identity politics-based scholarship was having on leftist political projects, but mainly Science and Academia.

Boghossian, Lindsay, and Pluckrose wrote 20 articles that promoted deliberately absurd ideas or morally questionable acts and submitted them to various peer-reviewed journals. Although they had planned for the project to run until January 2019, the trio admitted to the hoax in October 2018 after journalists from The Wall Street Journal revealed that "Helen Wilson", the pseudonym used for their article published in Gender, Place & Culture, did not exist. By the time of the reveal, 4 of their 20 papers had been published; 3 had been accepted but not yet published; 6 had been rejected; and 7 were still under review. Included among the articles that were published were arguments that dogs engage in rape culture and that men could reduce their transphobia by anally penetrating themselves with sex toys, as well as Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf rewritten in feminist language.[2][4] The first of these had won special recognition from the journal that published it.

This is the kind of shite you publish when you are unable to do real science. Parasite. Tear it all down.

I reject anything on it's face that uses the term "whiteness" as a pejorative.

True enough. Besides, we're told that there is no such thing as "white culture" in one breath, then informed that not only is "white culture" a pervasive influence over everything, but it's consuming all other cultures like Galactus with the next.

Way back in my day, LSU was doing its best to overcome this whiteness by hiring an Indian grad student to teach the lab for Physics 1001. Couldn't understand a single word!

"Whiteness" as used by these people is, without a doubt, an insult. It's not a description. As such, I'm not going to engage with anyone that starts off by using an insult when describing me or people that happen to look like me.

We used to call this "racism" in America, and we frowned on it.

My favorite hurdle to watch the easily-offended clear is when you challenge them to differentiate between "Racism", "Bigotry" and "Prejudice".

New NOAA Paper:
Snow is Racist
Ophelia Bottom (Sheit) Mo Lester (hershe syrup)
Excerpts
Why is snow always white when it first falls....In some areas yellow snow has been observed and is tasty.....black snow has been observed in urban areas, particularly near burned out stores....

Critical Snow Theory.....snow was white in Nazi Germany....
Trump was standing at a campaign event while it was snowing and no black snow was observed....
Ever see a black snow man...Even in Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer...Christmas Cards...Black snow in Iceland..

I dug up the paper. Here's more from it:

quote:

Critical Race Theory names that racism and white supremacy are endemic to all aspects of U.S. society, from employment to schooling to the law [1–7]. We see the outcomes of this in, for example, differential incarceration rates, rates of infection and death in the era of COVID, and police brutality. We also see the outcomes of this in physics.

These people are supposedly "scientists" but do not seem to understand the concept of variables or confounding factors. To them the fact more blacks are incarcerated means "racism." More blacks died of COVID because "racism." And they don't even provide any evidence that "police brutality" is more pervasive against blacks than others.

They absolutely refuse to look at any other variables, correlations or possible causes. For example, could it be that more blacks are in prison because they commit more crime? Could it be that more blacks died of COVID because more of them have preexisting health conditions? Could it be that they ignored CDC guidance in regard to COVID protocols? Could it be that they refused to get vaxxed more than any other group?

They continue:

quote:

For example, the American Physical Society [8] reports that whereas almost 16% of the U.S. population aged 20–24 years is Black, only 3% of bachelor’s degrees in physics and 1.8% of doctorate degrees are awarded to Black students. This is in contrast to about 73% of the U.S. population aged 20–24 being white, and 72% and 75%, respectively, of bachelor’s and doctorate degrees being awarded to white students.

First of all, I contest their numbers. There is no way in hell white people are 73% of the 20-24 demographic. (If you count Hispanics as "white," then maybe). Non-Hispanic Whites are barely 60% of the population in America according to the 2020 census.

But even if we accept their numbers for physics degrees, it tells us absolutely nothing about "racism." There could be a million reasons blacks don't care about physics.

This is not science, it's propaganda and activism. Full stop. If this were a paper trying to explain some medical phenomenon, it would never pass peer review.

My favorite was when Ibram X Kendi was asked to define "racism", and he used the word "racist" in the definition.

Because equity is outcome driven. The fact that the numbers do not line up exactly to what they are in society is ipso facto proof of racism. There can be NO other reasons.

Well, unless you ask why there are no white cornerbacks in the NFL, then that's totally based on merit.

On the other hand, the lack of black head coaches in the NFL...racism again.
