That’s not all this is about. This is about progressivism.

Yeah really. I’m not a boomer but I’m wondering if people think they would have made a different decision if they were in charge.

as a boomer I like the phrase ...you can learn a lot more by listening than talking

This is hardly new but, I do feel like it's one of the broken things in our culture going back quite some time.
It's also something that I never really fully understood when I was young, and still don't.
I used to frame it this way to people that were younger than me when they'd play some variation of "old people blah blah blah".
I'd say to them basically the following:
1. Yes, sometimes old people are slow to adapt to new ways of thinking.
2. But, sometimes young people are not receptive enough to the value of experience.
3. I would ask them, "do you feel like you are smart today? If so, do you feel that given 20 years, you will be wiser than you are today?"...……...assuming they give the only rational answer.....
4. I tell them, "well, those old people aren't "smarter" Than you...……..they're just you, plus 20 or 30 years"...…...conversely
5. I tell my peer older folks, "those young people aren't dumber than you...…….they're just you minus 20-30 years"
I think if we could see it that way, we would recognize that, perhaps we should be slower to dismiss those with experience...……..and, perhaps we should more readily listen to new ideas from those without.

Millenials and Gen Z; two generations of mostly useless disrespectful shitheads.

I’m kinda with the kids on this and I’m Gen X.
Boomers suck with their pensions, RVs and boats.
I’ve made more money than they did and worked harder than they did during their working years and I’m gonna be lucky to have Social Security and Medicare because of these sponges.
I’m sure as hell not gonna have a pension.

Yep, you can be pretty safe to write off any teen/young adult who speaks like this.
Actually, since age is an immutable trait, its ageism to write someone's opinion off due to their age. It's no different from sarcastically saying "Ok black dude".
Libs who say this are hypocrites.

If an older person says something I don't agree with, I politely listen and proceed to ignore it. I guess it's a form of deference.

You deserve a LOL!! FYI most folks who worked in the private sector currently in retirement don’t have pensions.....if you want a pension work for the federal/state government, teachers union or some other taxpayer funded gig. I don’t know too many private companies offering pensions today....maybe autoworkers or trade unions.
From the BLS....
quote:
The BLS overview shows that pension coverage is much higher in the public sector (78 percent) and among unionized workers (67 percent) in the private sector. In contrast, only 13 percent of non-union private-sector workers are covered.Jan 11, 2013
I would guesstimate that if you worked in the private sector going back 30-40 years ago you probably had a 50/50 chance of a pension, today I would guesstimate that private sector pensions are less than 30%....today you need a career where the taxpayers foots the bill and you’ll get a pension.

Do Roger Daltry and/or Pete Townsend ever feel stupid about singing the lyric “Hope I die before I get old” in their 70s?

I strongly disagree with much that they did; they grew the government at astronomical levels, made academia a festering stew of leftist programming, decided that the nuclear family was outdated, etc etc etc.
The issue is the stupidity of blaming it on age and resistance to change. Hell, the boomers LOVED change. Do these nitwits realize that they're talking about the free love LSD generation who hated The Man? And despite seeing the damage caused, Gen Z wants MORE government. Lunacy.

OK. As a medium old Xer, I totally see the complain regarding boomers and hell, let's be honest, their predecessors for creating and growing the nanny state. TOTALL understand the complaint.
But, it's VERY hard to digest the complaint of, "we'll be lucky to even get those goodies when we get old" when right the frick after that, they list TEN MORE GOODIES they want to ADD to the pile.
It's like a man bitching about his wife constantly spending too much, so, his solution is to go on spending sprees himself.
Who do they think they're hurting because, um, the boomers will be DEAD when that bill comes due.

Well Baby Boomers are responsible for blowing up our national debt and sending the generations after into countless wars all over the world. So I think it would be safe to say that Boomers may be the most irresponsible generation in American history, which is striking because their parents basically saved this country.
