Former gun pilot here. It’s not really a waste, they are getting their time in. The only real concern would be IF something happened you would have to explain why you were doing it and waving to a musician isn’t the best answer in an accident investigation. Having said that it isn’t worthy of making a fuss over. They will just tell the guys to no do that stuff without talking to the boss.

You have no idea what those pilots were doing. Could be testing after maintenance, could be getting hours in, could be flying to a training exercise, could be coming back from a training evolution for qualifications. Point is you have no idea and like I posted in a previous thread, this happens all the time when military pilots fly over their house to waive at their kids in similar situations, you’re just outraged because it’s kid rock and he is friends with Trump.
