Nope. He can be wrong. It only matters if he is more wrong than democrats.

You literally just proved my point.

You are acting as if people have concocted this binary system in their minds

Most have. It's called partisan brain rot.

It's a reinforcement mechanism used to push people to the poles so that they never leave the group. It's a heavily reinforced in/out group dynamic that relies on the fear of being labeled as a member of the out group (Which not only means ostracization, but it means that person is not part of htat [insert caricature of evil] group).

Add in social media algorithms and you get an echo chamber reinforcement mechanism. This is how you get NPCs who can do nothing more than push talking points their given (like, " It only matters if he is more wrong than democrats." or similar variants).

Many on this board are going to have true “didn’t read the room” moment in time after the mid terms. The maga momentum is over. Theres literally signs every where that tell them this but many on this board are suffocating in the sand or planning their “election was stolen” cope

Just like the GOP money train started late, so will the GOP messaging. Knowing the MSM is completely against the GOP, the late messaging does not give the MSM time for a counter.

There Will Be Blood, so to speak, and a lot of people who lost their government handouts as well as government employees that lost their gravy train are certainly motivated, I will agree.

The GOP even had a mid-term convention. Bet your last dollar their will be a lot of GOP money creating a lot of GOP energy in the not too distant future.

No one that voted for Trump last time is voting for the Democrats this time. It's a pure bullshite psyop like the article says. Moron's here that talk like they're going to vote for Kamala or Newsom because Trump hasn't done everything he said he would do voted for Kamala last time. Don't let them fool you.

I am.

But it has nothing to do with Trump and everything to do with my congressman is a neocon who always votes with the establishment. The only way Trump is directly to blame is that he didn't push for more conservatives and instead worked to primary them.

The price of gas isn't going to change my vote.

Ending the war in Iran isn't going to change my vote.

At this point there is nothing the GOP can do to get my vote in the mid terms.

I will still vote republican for local/state elections as always, but the federal election I'm not voting republican.

If it makes you feel better, it probably won't matter and they'll win anyway. But it won't be because of my vote.

The corollary would be claiming poor polls are only a reflection of the administration when it's been known for decades the President’s party struggles in midterms is also a sign of a cult.

The midterm polls swing the other way precisely because its a reflection of the administration in office.

Pols say things during the campaign that sound great, and then when they actually have to govern reality sets in. The electorate doesn't like this, which is why politics vacillate in non-extreme scenarios.

But it feels like we are more aware of it these days.

I can tell you, as someone who has stayed away from this board, for the most part, for at least a month, and also stopped listening to political radio and shows, these are the things i notice.

1) Most of the bitching here is inconsequential and boredom fillers.
2) Gas prices are noticeable. This is a real problem, and something needs to be done.
3) The social justice bullshite has seemed to have slowly melted away out of normal society.
4) Grocery prices are still around the same level as when Biden was in office.
5) No one, at least in Louisiana, has had an epiphany to all of a sudden support liberals. The price of things are shitty, but majority of people haven't all of a sudden decided to flip to the polar opposite on every issue they once held.
6) Lindsey Clancy and Hasan Piker shite has not helped out the Democrats in any form or fashion. All it has done is provide ammo for the Republicans.

Again, this is my perception from eveyday interactions and/or random stuff i hear on tv or from social media.

Their is NO COMMON GROUND between Republicans and Democrat voters. None. The 2 sides are polar opposites from each other. Yes, the politicians have a lot of common ground, but the ideologies are a clear split.
IMO, i have never seen it this clear cut before.

Facts

This board is allergic to facts. It’s always “well what about democrats” and never accountability for the party currently in power.

Endless war, debt rising higher than expected, interest rates spiking, inflation not coming down, gas prices, grocery prices. The reasons why republicans are gonna get a shellacking is right in front of all of you.

You all can stop with the psyop bullshite or claims that it’s rigged. The Republicans are cooked.

Why is declaring who you're voting necessary for this discussion (other than reinforcing a binary in/out group dynamic used to engage in the framing I discussed)?

Because, per my previous post above, their is no rationality from being a "MAGA type" trump voter to then saying, "well, if it wasn't for these gas prices, i would vote for trump, so instead i support the democrats". That is nothing rational behind that line of thought at all. Which means, the person who implies that is simply gas lighting.

Now i understand if your agument is "gas prices and ME wars" so i'm thinking 3rd party or sitting this one out. I at least understand that mindset. However, i am also of the mind that "sitting this one out" gives democrats a better chance of winning and as i've pointed out, they are the polar opposite of exactly what the Trump types, and "i'll sit this one out" types truly want.

You should see public perception. White liberal women is tied to Clancy per the public.

His name is being thrown out enough that his comments are on non-political social media clips. I don't do tik tok, but my wife watches reels on there and it his comments are beginning to get more widely viewed. Take it for what its worth.

Because the hardcore MAGA types are a very small population.

What you're describing is a more moderate person who supported MAGA due to a combination of convenience and proposed policy.

You're conflating the middle who WILL change their minds with those at the pole who are NPCs who will only change their minds when they're told to.

Also, there is the whole issue wish Trump/MAGA going against what they sold. Iran, Epstein, inflation, Ukraine, etc. You're going to get the black pill with the NPCs who feel upset about this, and you're going to get moderate who don't vote or vote or protest vote or vote for moderate DEMs (depends on where they are, as this isn't an election with single individuals to discuss).

Thus the rational explanaiton of the "once Trump supporter turned Democrat supporter" doesn't' really hold any water. I acknowledge and understand the middle ground, as explained above, but there is a cadre of either "never Trumpers and Democrats who respond as if they at any point ever considered voting Trump, but because of oil and wars, Democrat is now the way. That doesn't make any rational sense in 2026. Early 2000's yes, now, no.

There better be, because Trump is quite fond democrat spending and several Bernie and Liz Warren’s policies.

The war is idiotic, but survivable

Not passing anything since the Big Beautiful Bill is 100 percent on John Thune. I think he and the rest of senate “leadership” are definitely behind the polling suggesting Talarico will somehow win, despite being ambiguously gay, vegan and saying unambiguously that God is Nonbinary.

Paxton would be a way bigger threat to them than some pussy socialist who fake drives a truck

Yes. It's already been addressed

This sort of argument:

quote:

However, i am also of the mind that "sitting this one out" gives democrats a better chance of winning and as i've pointed out, they are the polar opposite of exactly what the Trump types, and "i'll sit this one out" types truly want.

Has no value.

It's nothing more than a tool used to silence criticism to reinforce the in-group.

quote:

Thus the rational explanaiton of the "once Trump supporter turned Democrat supporter" doesn't' really hold any water.

Only to a person trying to reinforce the in-group.

You can even take the population of this board to see why.

There are posters on this board, in my time here, who have flip flopped to where they supported:

GWB
The War on Terror
John McCain
The OG Tea Party
The Religious hijacking of the Tea Party
Romney
Trump 1
Trump 2
This weird version of declining Trump
The Iran War

quote:

as explained above, but there is a cadre of either "never Trumpers and Democrats who respond as if they at any point ever considered voting Trump, but because of oil and wars, Democrat is now the way. That doesn't make any rational sense in 2026. Early 2000's yes, now, no.

Nothing has changed from the early 00s

Also, if you want absolute proof of how this is simply incorrect, look at the voting patters of south Texas in 2022 and 2024. There are LOTS of moderate voters who will flip.

You're trying to frame this at the extremes and ignoring how there's a solid 10-15% of the population that is in the middle and will sincerely change between DEM and GOP based on what's going on in their lives.
