It's not worth getting a dog hurt or killed if they call a K-9 unit. If they refuse to comply, they have to be shot. They have to stop playing games with these idiots.

I’m all for using tranquilizer darts like they use on large animals. Drag his body out, throw him in the clink and let him sleep it off.

1.a Record the stop - in this day and age it's stupid not to have.
1.b Shoot out the tires - to slowdown any possible run.
2) Call SWAT
3) Wait with gun(s) drawn.
4) Press/apply any and all appropriate charges. Including a (eta: many) dollar service charge for the addition cost for being stupid (if proven guilty).

Seems like somebody should have a gun drawn on the a-hole while non-lethal stuff is used. At least that way the other officer can try some things without worrying about the a-hole getting the drop on them.
Having a gun aimed at you is a strong deterent against trying to grab your own gun from wherever it is.

Good idea - perhaps they can come up with some simple way to disable the car
=> zap the computer so it cannot run?
=> Place the tire puncture blocks around all tires?
Tell the perp he needs to get out of the car, or we will wait right here for reinforcements to arrive and he will be financially responsible for all the extra effort/costs involved in obtaining compliance with the law.
Tell the perp he has one minute to make that decision and after that he is violating some other statute for which he will be held criminally liable.
We need to make that "other statute" a federal law so that biased DA's cannot dismiss the charge.
ALSO - we need to put a heavy emphasis on not making trivial stops. LEOs should feel as liable to the legal process as other citizens. Perhaps stiffer training on how the new 'look over the shoulders of LEO' will work.
