Oh please change your mind. Everyone here is so interested in your opinion.

You can afford private care, or you get a publicly funded plan.

I’m not going to get into the specifics of the plan I’d implement

That's because you have no plan Ms Ocasio, just ideas that are not sustainable.

US government has not earned the credibility to make me believe that they can run it effectively. In other words, it will be a cluster frick.

I'll tell you a little story about a government program. Remember after 9-11 when shrub announced with a great deal of fanfare a retraining program for airline workers who lost their jobs?
Here's the truth about that... The program was designed so as to not pay benefits out. If you had a college degree, you were ineligible. If you didn't want to retrain in an approved field, you were ineligible. So, for example, a flight attendant who wanted to go to nursing school was ineligible but massage therapy was OK.
See, human nature doesn't change just because you change the administrative structure from a corporation to a government agency. The same factors that drive an insurance company's CEO to deny claims result in granny being denied admission to the hospital under Medicare.
... And once you have universal health care and or single pay there are no competitive forces left to give you any choices in terms of avoiding poor treatment by the system. If you live in Canada and you think the local hospital doesn't do a good job, don't think that you can just go 40 miles down the road and get admitted. They will ship you back to your assigned facility.
A properly function health care system must be willing to actively embrace losses in certain situations to deliver proper care to individuals.

Look how bad care is in most places with universal health care.
More importantly, if the “government” is paying for my health care they can decide things about my lifestyle that must be changed I order for me to receive care.
“Government” won’t be paying working people who pay taxes will be.
I saw my dad battle the VA over some care. The VA initially declined treatment and their reason was he smoked (which he quit doing 26 years before he sought treatment). The only way it ended up being covered by the VA was when I told my dad to point out to the VA that he didn’t smoke before he served and only started smoking when cigarettes were included in his C rations overseas.
I told him he should threaten a class action suit on behalf of all vets and their families who first started smoking in the military back when.
