I put more blame on GWB than I do Clinton. His decision to invade Iraq will ultimately prove to be one of the major turning points in US history.

I'm 57. I'd say without a doubt, present day is the best chance we have of holding onto the America our founding fathers hoped for.

Seriously??? Those are the years our federal government allowed the corporations to export most of our manufacturing over seas and began this globalist idea of a one world government bullshite. Definitely not our best days.

What is even crazier is just how close we still were to the Democrats/Jim Crow era in the 80s and you still had this.

Now we have "Americans" that not only openly hate the country, they live daily to push others to hate America and destroy those who disagree. It is a scary reality to watch and something I never would have thought I would have seen in the 80s. Everything was pro America and unity. Now everything is anti America, division, and encouraging violence against those you hate.

1967-1969 was a fricking crazy 3-year period. Peak Americana. War. Riots. Protests.Assassinations. George Wallace. Woodstock. The draft. Nixon.

Man, as a twelve year old, it woke me the hell up.

Early to the mid-90's I reckon. 1990 to 1995 in particular.

Everyone was patriotic during the first Gulf War, and then the Soviet Union collapsed. TGIF television and Nickelodeon were at their peak. 1995 rolled around and the Braves won the World Series and I saw titties in person for the first time. Yeah, those were the days.

At least that is my perception. In reality, probably the mid 80's actually were peak if you are talking economy, production, politics, culture, etc., although I was too young to notice or care about those things. I was too busy playing with my G.I. Joes back then.

The 80's were still great (for a kid) and the late 90's were good for those of us graduating from high school and starting college.

May 1995. Early summer, at the pool most days and the ballpark most nights. Country music was at its best, smartphones didn't exist, and Morgan Nick hadn't been abducted from a park 20 miles away that we all spent time at.

January 2016. Seeing Hamilton on Broadway months into its original run.

America’s greatest city was at its absolute dynamic and creative best. The national deficit was declining, healthcare coverage was expanding, and the economy was firmly in the middle of an all time bull run.

We were respected, admired and feared with no real rival to our hard and soft power.

Yep. Came to post this. Peak western civilization.

The 90's were a big decline to me. A lot of the racial bullshite we see today kicked into higher gear during the 90's, which also saw a lot of other social degeneracy increase rapidly. Tats and piercings became more popular and the music was basically just my generation barfing on the music of our parents.

Mid 90s after the fall of the Soviet Union was absolutely the peak of the United States. We had so much potential in front of us and we blew it.

Soviets REALLY blew it.

Born in 1970 and I loved the freedom of being a hippie gypsy kid of the '70s, being a teenager in the colorful 80's and the shows and concerts of the grunge days but I agree and think you are correct.

When our great leaders (Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld) went into Iraq and confiscated the WMDs, saving…. at minimum…. the middle east region from total destruction.
