This isnt just about Parler. Everyone needs to buy as much locally as they can. I have been doing this for years now. Support your neighbors and stop buying garbage from the national and international garbage corporations. For phones, computers, and the like, I realize we dont have much choice but to buy froma big firm. But even then, try to buy direct from the company itself and not use Amazon or walmart etc.

Yes. Start the list of companies. We need a sticky!

Why doesn’t Parler just go public to raise money?

Parler isn't a real company. They're run out of a Rebekah Mercer's piggy bank and they brought Bongino aboard as an "owner" for right-wing credibility and a mouthpiece.

Chicken makes more running TD than they do Parler.

The Musk image got me thinking. I expect the big ISP’s to start jumping on the censorship bandwagon soon. Musk’s Starlink may end up being the one place where people will be able to go, seeing as the government probably needs him more than he needs them.

I was going to post that just having servers is the easy part, getting someone to provide you the bandwidth needed on the internet will be the problem, and individual providers will be strong armed by Amazon, Apple, Google, Etc. To not sell to Parler

True - if he gets on board, Musk can find enough to setup up a scalable server for Parler (et al) to scale up in 2 or 3 years to Twitter's size in his sofa cushions.

He'd probably only want a 25% stake for his troubles, too. The hippies who are his car customers will be pissed for a bit, but they have few alternatives at present and he'd probably replace them with well-to-do conservatives.

It’s not that hard to build a server with the resources Parler has.

It's not a matter of money. It's a matter of time and of hardware. It takes time to build infrastructure. You can't just snap your fingers and have a thousand racks full of 2U servers and power backups and have it set up in the morning. There's also the issue of hardware shortages: prices are up for computers right now because of trade and factory capacity issues (exacerbated by Covid). There's a backlog of orders for big corporate and state clients right now. Parler would have to get in line.

Here is the statement from the creator of Parler on the actual Parler app:

quote:

Sunday (tomorrow) at midnight Amazon will be shutting off all of our servers in an attempt to completely remove free speech off the internet. There is the possibility Parler will be unavailable on the internet for up to a week as we rebuild from scratch. We prepared for events like this by never relying on amazons proprietary infrastructure and building bare metal products. We will try our best to move to a new provider right now as we have many competing for our business, however Amazon, Google and Apple purposefully did this as a coordinated effort knowing our options would be limited and knowing this would inflict the most damage right as President Trump was banned from the tech companies. This was a coordinated attack by the tech giants to kill competition in the market place. We were too successful too fast. You can expect the war on competition and free speech to continue, but don’t count us out. #speakfreely

Big Tech would suffer catastrophic loss of business domestically if conservatives had an alternative to their platforms and products......it's probably why Big Tech is so cozy with the CCP, they know that's their future.

Didn't you rednecks try this one before, around 1860? I don't think it will work out so well for you this time.

It will soon enough be illegal (not just a violation of Terms of Service based on individual corporate policies) to post threats of violence or sedition on ANY platform, so it's not going to matter whose servers you use. If you want to talk about killing political figures you don't like or want to threaten insurrections, your kind will be treated the same as when Al Quada uses technology platforms to plot its activities.

I wouldn't think access to cash would be a problem for Parler. Rebekah Mercer is an investor, whose father is Robert Mercer - from Cambridge Analytica and one of the largest GOP donors in recent years. She has stated he has no ownership interest - but i wouldn't think funding for a server would be a problem.

Fun Fact: Robert Mercer is who gets credit for introducing Trump to his campaign team in 2016 - Obannon and Conway. He was one of the largest donors in the 2016 cycle.
