I read an interesting tweet asserting that Pakistan is deeply invested in what’s going on and has an agreement with Saudi Arabia to protect them, which means Pakistan is going to get involved militarily soon.
Pakistan is caught in a weird place. They have nukes. Their primary rival (India) supports Israel. They’re currently at war with the Taliban in Afghanistan. They’re struggling with a separatist movement in Balochistan. That same especially group is also active in Iran opposing the IRGC. So, Pakistan doesn’t want conflict with Iran. However, Pakistan has a security agreement with Saudi Arabia (whom Iran attacked in retaliation for joint US/Isreali strikes), and Iran has some economic interests with the Afghani Taliban.
Pakistan is trying to mediate the conflict between Iran and the US/Israel while China mediates the conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan. All of the intertwining alliances and grievances are really starting to resemble the Balkans during the lead up to WWI.

So they can get their nukes ready.

Why??? The oil supply passing thru Hormuz isn't critical to the US. In fact, WE should close down the Strait.
We're still subject to the price shocks. It's not only oil that flows through the strait. Chemicals needed for fertilizer production flow through the strait. Gases that are used in semiconductor manufacturing flow through the strait.
Do you want to start a mass famine in other countries that have nothing to do with this shite?

Yes...and suggesting that WE should close the strait would cause the deaths of innocents and be a frick you to the world.

This is exactly what will happen. After we get to pay $20 a gallon
Singapore just hit 15 a gallon. Unfortunately thats one 3 places Guam gets gas. We will definitely hit $20 a gallon in 45 more days here

They're just a mediator here
It would be up to the warring nations to hold up to any agreements made

Yes that is correct - they have a Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have always had a cooperative relationship but last fall they put it writing. Basically a NATO type agreement - an attack on one is considered an attack on the other. It's important because Saudi Arabia doesn't have nukes but Pakistan has a whole bunch of them.
Pakistan has a "whole lotta skin in the game".

You have no idea how many people on this planet will starve to death.

If China or Europe want to handle this, let em come on.
China does not and has not gotten involved in this kind of geopolitical stuff. They mostly always sit on the sideline. THE LAST THING we want are their ships anywhere in the vicinity of ours while missiles, rockets and drones are flying around.

Isn’t Pakistan in the middle of their own war with Afghanistan and bombing the shite out of the Taliban? I’m sure they don’t want to get drug into the Iranian conflict, but Pakistan asking for peace is rich. Didn’t they also try to start a war with India a few months back? Real peace lovers those guys.

There is NO WAY they'll do anything in that 2 week period besides build nurseries and nursing homes around the power plants.
