The Constitution provides no alternatve to Roberts presiding. Any trial in which the Chief Justice doesn't preside is by definition unconstitutional.

I think it's time to bring the dry-ramen-eater guy out of retirement to explain why this is correct. Because the definition impeachment is to accuse an elected official of wrongdoing that justifies their removal from office if convicted.

The only thing this does is put the democrats in a worse spotlight. The unity they claim they want will be harder for them to achieve with Trump supporters. Biden definitely hasn’t made any new supporters with his bullshite jobs numbers. I think this will incite more people towards support of Trump in return people disliking more Dems. 2022 will be a red wave out of this world. Any republicans siding with this will sign their death certificate as congressional seat holders.

Shampeachment II could be very entertaining and very embarrassing for the Dims.

Lay out the election crime first, then you can explain why this is a farce.
If Trump's lawyers do not come out swinging for the fences and show the crimes, then Trump is done.
He can not have bad advisors for 4 years and continue to take bad advice. He has to see how phony these advisors are. We the people want a person to expose the criminals for what they have done to this country. Expose everything. Get every person on Lindell's video if necessary.

The Constitution states that the Chief Justice only has to preside over the trial of impeachment of the President. Since former President Trump is no longer a sitting president, Roberts is not required to preside. It's a little sleazy on Roberts' part, but then again, we're talking about Roberts.
The bigger Constitutional argument is if you can proceed with a trial of impeachment against a former president. There is no precedent on this issue that I could find (not a lawyer, but I did a search), so it's wide open for lawyers on both sides to do what they do...speculate.
I hope and pray that the Republicans stand firm.

Why stop at Trump? They should do Andrew Jackson again next since they failed the first time.
