I do believe in the Brownsville refinery still has not received enough investment to move forward. It’s been seeking capital since it was first permitted in 2021. Texas just extended their construction permit another year.

ALL Republicans in the Senate and almost all Republicans in the House (minus Massie and a few others) voted for it. You think Biden had that much influence over them???

Yes - with the Ukraine war going on. How much money did they approve on emotion and stupidly sent it to the criminal Zelenskyy?

Dang. That sounds pretty straightforward. Almost too simplistic. I’m envisioning, by your description, Russia cash apping a weekly allowance to Iran. But alas, I suspect that was gleaned from this place, given the simplicity and lack of any supporting info.

You don't understand the long term relationship of Iran and Russia?

Yeah, I do. But do YOU realize Russia has been embroiled in a rather expensive war for some time now??

They give more than money. They give intelligence and jets and help develop their missle systems. While I don't think the comparison goes very far given the difference in scope, there is a real argument that now that we are purchasing Russian diesel that we are in the silly position Germany was in while they were simultaneously sending military support to Ukraine and sending billions to Russia.

Now we have to depend on fricking russia to help us with refining capacity

No, we don't. We are self sufficient in refining, both gasoline and diesel. And Russia has an export ban on diesel and gasoline. And the US has a recently passed bill to penalize countries that import Russian petrochemicals. And there was a bill passed in 2022 to prohibit the US from importing oil/refined products from Russia. This whole thing is absurd political theater. Trump now expects to lose control in November and is cashing in his chips where he still can. Pathetic.

What exactly does “cashing in his chips” mean, in this instance? If it means anything.
