One of the worst things we ever did was not decree an official language

Long story short, I moved to Ellis County, Texas in December. Went to the voting registration bursar’s office today to turn in mine and my wife’s voting registration today. First issue I have with it is I just handed the woman my paper and she looked it over and said, “alright looks good.” Never asked for ID, SSN, bills to current address, nothing. Definitely a huge, gaping, nation killing issue that they’ll just gladly accept whatever the frick you give them and not even bother to scrutinize it at all.
She then hands me a sheet of paper with all the voting locations in the county (still feels weird to say county after spending my first 30 years on this rock in LA). All the early voting dates, etc.
HALF THE frickING SHEET IS IN SPANISH.
I know we’re a “melting pot” really more of a salad bowl now, but holy fricking shite, this is a vast majority English speaking nation. If you can’t read, speak, write, or understand English, yo arse shouldn’t be voting!!
We should’ve made it official long ago, this is an English speaking country.

At some point it was. Maybe still but the paper it is written on is being used like the dems are using the constitution.

Newt G made an attempt and was stopped by the rinos. FWIW it costs the U.S. billions to support multiple languages.

Sad part is, you need to be a citizen to vote. You need to know English to become a citizen. I know I know old people don't, but would cover most people.
No reason for ballots to be in multiple languages
Fricking lefties really are anti-American scum.

You live in Texas and are upset that a large portion of the population speak Spanish? Let me get out my tiny violin for you. Next you’ll tell me that there’s a large Spanish population in Florida, Arizona, and New Mexico too.

It sucks, but is unlikely to change. If anyone wants to talk to me, use English. Otherwise they’re just wasting their time.

I worked in a high-rise in Houston, TX for a while. Our company had a broad array of languages on site - English, Spanish, Mandarin, etc. We were required to have fire drills in which evacuation instructions were first announced in English and then Spanish. But if you didn't speak English or Spanish you were outta luck. I guess you just go down with the building if there was a real fire.
FTR, a nation needs to have an official, dominant language for it to function best.

No, but if you don’t understand English well enough to read what you’re voting for in an English dominated nation, you shouldn’t vote.
But you already knew that.

If you remove the Spanish speaking only population, Florida turns bluer than Virginia. The cubanos there are extremely conservative and have no desire to learn English.

I don't like big government telling people what language they need to speak. It should operate as a free market. America is a free-market country of immigrants.

It never was. No where in the constitution, or the Federal Registry (I think) is there an official language designation. Trump should pass that law.

I don’t think that’s true. The Hispanic vote is close to evenly split in Florida with Trump at about 45% and Kamala at about 39%. In 2016 Hillary got more Hispanic votes in Florida than Trump did, and lost the state.
Hispanics are the reason Florida is no longer a swing state, but that is because they moved from heavily Democrat to fairly even.

That may be so in S. FLA but every Cuban ex-pat I know speaks good English.

I actually agree with the bolded and think the multitude of languages spoken within the US is a positive.
The problem with this logic though is "big government" is still on the hook to provide printed government information in every language at public cost, provide translators at public cost, provide education in every language at public cost, etc... That's not a free market.
