The mainstreamers are going to try to undermine their progs once again but it's going to become more and more difficult in each election cycle going further.

Trump has a special gift of triggering the left for anything that he says and merely being himself causes them to lose their shite. With him out of the picture in 2 years or so, I was hoping things would calm down but with the rise of DSA terrorists, that doesn’t appear to be in play.

It’s funny to me that the democrat party struggles to wrap itself around what it has been all along
They act surprised that they have these radical socialist candidates but their policies have laid the groundwork. Big government programs designed to take from producers and give to non producers foster the socialist mindset.

They won't. The assault on GWB was non-stop with everything he did being claimed as "racist" or corporate cronyism. A big difference between then and now is that Trump fights back every bit as loudly and brashly as his opponents while Bush tried to take the traditional "high road".
Another difference between those two periods is that the Left has reached out deeper into their fringe and given them a more prominent role. The deeper you go into the fringe, the louder they are and the more willing they are to delve into violence to push their agenda.

In essence, yes I agree. I tend to think back to the Universe 25 experiments when topics along this line come up as I see a similarity in behaviors. When we have too successful a society for too long, the quality of life from that success eventually gets taken for granted by successive generations which haven't had to live through the lower QOL lives of their predecessors.
When those who are vocal and proud of their socialist ideas can win multiple offices, when the economy becomes so addicted on government debt creation that it merely putters along on successive $1T+ deficits and all government does is plan on increasing that, we've already fallen but we just don't know it yet.

I'm a 71 tear old with an older old liberal sister. Recently she emphatically explained to me why there is white privilege. It's a phenomenon that just exists in perpetuity. She's a believer. So at that point and with the impending addition of many socialist to the governing body, I think we are done. It will just be a test for me to endure before I am gone. I'm pretty pessimistic. Many normal probably conservative couples who had children of my era now have hard left children. We did our best I think. And successive family dynamics have gotten worse.
Not sure the world even fears the US prowess anymore. The mighty has fallen. But there will be some history written of this passage of time in the future and the physical boundaries of the US will still be here in 200 years. Unfortunately I'll never know the conclusion.
