The school district and school was unresponsive, so the state superintendent of Oklahoma revoked her license so she can't work in the state, loses pension, etc.

Hopefully this guy is the last federal Secretary of Education. Trump will appoint him to close the doors.

The few liberal family members I have here in state are teachers or involved with teachers and schools. To them, even the mention of the name "Ryan Walters" makes them visibly and uncontrollably angry. I don't think they despise even Donald Trump more than they hate Walters. He is the antichrist to their religion of state sponsored indoctrination.

...so I definitely like the guy.

Murder does not equal abortion. Not one woman is serving time for abortion. Morality is a bit fluid but murder never flows to the acceptable side of the line for 99.5% of us

It's not?

Is it illegal to say something so abhorrent?

Maybe one day you say something they find equally abhorrent, then what?

Of course it is unacceptable, I agree.

But is wishing it occurred illegal?

Tell me what restrictions to free speech you agree with.
Is this it or is there more?
Now let's ask a liberal what speech they are good with restricting. Do you think their side will simply accept your list?

Maybe, just maybe they find your words offensive one day ...

Slippery slope Now a liberal Superintendent takes the license of a teacher that posts anti abortion views and that is ok too? I abhor what the teacher says, but the state is punishing her for expressing her views.

It will be an interesting free speech case if/when it’s brought.

Not slippery at all. Teacher’s have a social media policy. If you violate that policy, which includes calling for violence, you will be fired. It happens from time to time. Jobs like cops and teaching have large influence. You can’t have teachers calling for violence. It’s common sense.

As a 3rd generation educator I believe this is the right decision and does not punish her for expressing her 1st amendment rights. Pretty much every educator signs paper work saying that we must behave in an appropriate manner on social media and if you do not anything including termination is on the table. Advocating for political violence and murder absolutely meets this standard.

No. It’s not illegal. Wishing for violence against another human is going to run afoul of most HR policies.

Would you have a problem with a school terminating a teacher who said “I wish a tranny kid would get shot.”

Of course you wouldn’t. And therein lies your problem and your idiocy is laid bare.

Freedom of speech =/= freedom from consequences. Glad to see it, It's about time something was done.

I've never quite understood why I pay property taxes to fund schools and pay federal income taxes to fund the destruction of same schools.

Since you are too dumb to see it for yourself I'll explain it to you. One is advocating for the life of an unborn innocent child, while the other is cheering for the death of a former ( and God willing ) future President of the USA. There is a slight difference.

Did I miss the part where the former teacher is going to prison?

Stop exaggerating the punishment. The superintendent absolutely has the right to revoke teaching licenses based upon morality.

No one’s “free speech” was infringed. She isn’t going to prison.

Everyday, teachers get fired for what they post online. The “Hawk Tuah” girl was a pre-k teacher. She was forced to resign. I’m not saying it’s right, I’m saying it happens all the time. This time, it finally happened to a radical liberal.

ETA I got my 2 stories mixed up. That chick was not a teacher. There was another teacher who was caught having an only fans around the same time. She gone.

Sure is.. but guess who started it with “cancel culture”? It wasn’t the right. So yes indeed that slope is very slippery.

Ehh… the right can just use the justice system in Oklahoma to dig up something on that superintendent and take them to trial… in the reddest part of Oklahoma.. and just punish them.

Speaking of slippery slope… amirite?
