I have searched for any data or study establishing that transgender folks are MORE violent than the norm, and I have found no such thing.
I am still waiting for someone to produce the data confirming the notion that transgender kids are more likely to be violent in restrooms than their non-transgender classmates. Apparently, this is some long-proven axiom, so it should be a simple matter to produce the data.

The confrontation could have been over the tranny being in the bathroom to begin with.
The article said the assailant asked the victim a question, then attacked her when she responded. What if the question was, after noticing a disapproving look, "You got a problem with me being here?"
The article stated the assailant had only been there a few days. It seems unlikely he went to the bathroom to fight the girl.

No one is worried about a girl going into the boys bathroom and causing trouble, they're worried about boys going into the girls restrooms and causing trouble.
Put the trans issue on the shelf for a second. Are boys more violent than girls?

Of course this is the crux of the matter, as is the risk and severity of the consequences. He will ignore these and pretend that there should be raw statistics for a phenomenom that is essentially brand new.
The way you reduce the chances of a male seriously injuring a female in the female bathroom, where other men can't intervene, is to keep them out of the fricking bathroom. That seems rather obvious to me.
