I think your friend is getting at something important there. There really was a lot we didn’t know, and I agree it’s a problem when people talk like everything is settled when it isn’t.
Where I see it a little differently is that in medicine we’re often making decisions under uncertainty, not waiting for perfect knowledge. It’s less "we know everything" vs. "we know nothing" and more weighing what we do know against the risks of not acting (these were real but underdiscussed here IMO).
Reasonable people can land in different places with that, especially early on.

The side-effects of COVID and the vaccine for COVID are the same, with much higher rates of incidence from the disease than the shot.
I think people were warranted to push back that there was “zero risk”. I also think people like this woman should be paid damages.
I also still think the rhetoric is over the top & doubt that there are grounds for any criminal charges (no one went to jail when black box labels got added to cipro 3 different times).
Now many people have just become skeptical of vaccines generally, and yea that’s not great. They are an important part of modern medicine.

I think that’s a good way of putting it, especially about the rhetoric and how it lands & your language observation is sharp - terms like "jab" vs "vaccine" tend to signal where a source is coming from before you even get to the substance. It seems like a lot of the confusion over the last few years wasn’t just about the underlying risks, but about how different sides were framing and amplifying different parts of the story.
And like you said, one of the downstream effects is people becoming more skeptical of vaccines in general, which is probably not where most people intended to end up.

Pfizer did the same thing with a drug called Bextra.Were fined 2.5 billion by the FDA when discovered they had withheld adverse effects which included heart attacks,strokes and death.
FDA was somewhat honest then,the Covid “vaccine” the FDA was in it,that’s why they wanted to wait 75 years to release the data.
That’s big reason I didn’t take the vaccine,I didn’t trust the mf’ers.That and Congress was exempt from the mandates,that didn’t pass the smell test for me.
Pfizer is not the only drug company that does crooked shite.Merck came out with a similar drug to Bextra-Vioxx,same scenario.The FDA fined Merck 4 billion.
Around 2000 Eli Lily came out with a drug called Xigris.Was marketed as a game changer in the treatment of sepsis,was supposed to reduce death from sepsis significantly.Turns out it was of no benefit plus it increased risk of life threatening bleeding.Was take off the market 2011,Eli Lily had manipulated the data( falsified)showing it to be of great benefit in preventing death.They made billions off of it.
The Joint Commission,not a government organization but very powerful,was behind the Oxy Contin debacle.They started the “pain is the 5th vital sign” business.They monitored hospital and physician records to ensure that pain meds were given freely.It’s unprovable but I am convinced that members of JCAH were getting kickbacks from Purdue.West Virginia sued them unsuccessfully.
The FDA should have stepped in to rein them in.I feel if they were honest they would have.

Jab is a common, everyday term for an injection in Britain and has been for a long time. It’s not meant in any pejorative manner.

During peak Covid hysteria there was a headline in Atlanta paper “23 year old dies of Covid” below the article there was a picture of a woman who was at least 400 pounds maybe more. They used that kind of propaganda to try and scare people into getting the ‘vaccine’ which was totally worthless.

I've said it on here and I'll say it again... EVERYONE in this country should read The Real Anthony Fauci book by RFK Jr.. It's one of the most heavily cited books I have ever read. EVERYTHING is backed up with citations.
That's why he has never been sued for that book. He has challenged detractors to debate it publicly. No one has taken him up on it. What they did to us with COVID is absolutely disgusting.
