It's crazy how the evidence keeps mounting about why letting the Iranian regime get to such a point was a such a mistake going on for many years.

Obama wouldn't agree with you that it was a mistake. That traitor was actively supporting Iran.

One of his best ever. I know he doesn't drink. Is he taking any halucegenics?

So you are saying that a pattern has developed?

Trump is VERY transparent. That post perfectly expresses his utter frustration.

Opening the Strait of Hormuz is not just a matter of will. We don’t have a sustainable military answer right now because we don't have a defensive shield against asymmetric warfare (cheap drones and missiles), as Ukraine has against Russia.

When the U.S. launched Project Freedom roughly two weeks ago, three guided-missile destroyers were sent through the Strait to escort commercial shipping.

The Navy came under a sustained barrage of Iranian drones and missiles and intercepted 100% of the attacks.

Yet the defensive effort after just two days was extraordinarily resource-intensive. It nearly depleted the missile magazines of two Guided-Missile Destroyers and required support from more than 100 aircraft (F-35 fighters and attack helicopters). It costs an estimated $50–100 million to get just two commercial ships through safely over two days.

This model is completely unsustainable beyond a brief demonstration. The U.S. cannot realistically guarantee a perfect interception record against repeated sustained barrages.

All it would take is one drone or missile getting through, and the images of a burning American warship would be a major political disaster.

Below, Trump isn’t raging at the media alone. He’s raging because we don't have a cost-effective Military solution (money and lives at risk) to opening the Strait.

This tweet is the crux of our problem. We need a much bigger Navy if we want to control critical choke points in global trade.

Ya, I agree with you. Definitely need to stop them. Appreciate the graph illustrating how serious this is.

This part is very interesting:

We have the biggest Navy in the world by far.

What we need is a less expensive and more efficient way of dealing with an enemy that flies $1000 drones using X-Box controllers and attacks $2.5 billion guided missile destroyers with boats that any old baw can purchase from Bass Pro.

He definitely does. His power plant and bridge day threat didn’t work and he doesn’t want to follow through on it.

Agreed.

I think it served its purpose, which has basically proven that Iran isn't serious about real negotiations, regardless of the threat. We don't necessarily have to disable their utility infrastructure either and from the enemy's perspective, Trump has been all over the place so they likely have no clue what is going to happen next, and where.

From a strategy standpoint it's not a terrible place to be, but I agree with most that the time for talk is pretty much over.

My opinion is that we would need more numbers to confidently repel it but that would involve a cheaper type of munition, craft, and more human bodies to deploy. could be wrong and thats okay if it is

Arm the uprising. Arm them with suicide drones using X-Box controllers.

Back in the day I believe Darpa did a test where guys go to play free for the first month shooter games, was a shell game for potential real world drone missions.

So instead of a drone operator you get a 15 year old to "play" a game, he is actually smoking targets and paying you for the opportunity and never knows the difference.

No PTSD no $120K a year for a drone operator, winner winner chicken dinner.

Then maybe it would be a good idea for the President and Secretary of War to stop telling everybody constantly that Iran is "decimated", "they have nothing", and "have no ability to fight back at all". People tend to believe what they are told repeatedly, and then have a hard time understanding how an enemy that supposedly has nothing is still able to shut down a major international waterway.

Trump and Hegseth's constant need to stroke their own ego and make sure everybody knows they have totally, completely won the war better than anyone else ever has won a war is probably backfiring now

I don't think it's crazy to suggest that the public perception of the war would be 10-15 points higher in Trump's favor if he simply didn't have access to Truth Social

Spot on. While this isn't likely to become a Vietnamesque "quagmire", it certainly has the potential to remain a long lasting stalemate where Iran wields all the power to attack vessel traffic in the Strait of Hormuz at will and the price of oil doesn't drop below $90 for the foreseeable future.

I don't think people appreciate how much damage Iran did to oil & gas export infrastructure in the Middle East over the past few months. Unfortunately, short of regime change and a clear indication Iran's nuclear capabilities have been destroyed and the enriched uranium is seized, this whole operation didn't really accomplish all that much strategically in the long run.
