IRGC’S REZAEI: “We will sink all U.S ships”
Mohsen Rezaei, adviser to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and former IRGC commander:
“We will not concede on our 10 conditions under naval pressure.”
“I oppose continuing the ceasefire.”
“We will sink all ships and let none escape,” warning U.S. vessels against approaching the Strait of Hormuz.
“President Trump wants to police Hormuz,” adding the U.S. “can no longer sustain the war and fears escalation.”

NOW: Secretary Hegseth sends a DIRECT MESSAGE to Iran from the Pentagon
"To IRGC leadership, we're watching you.
Our capabilities are NOT the same, our military and yours.
Remember, this is NOT a fair fight, and we know what military assets you are moving and where you are moving them to.
You are digging out, which is exactly what you're doing— digging out of bombed out and devastated facilities, and we are only getting stronger."
"We are locked and loaded on your critical dual-use infrastructure, on your remaining power generation, and your energy industry.
We'd rather not have to do it, we are ready to go at command of our president and the push of a button."

You misinterpret how that was said. "As if", maybe would have cleared that up.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Thursday the United States would maintain its blockade on Iran “for as long as it takes,” warning Tehran its energy sector and military assets remain under close watch.
Speaking at a Pentagon briefing, Hegseth said Iran was “digging out of bombed out and devastated facilities” and trying to recover remaining missile launchers.
“You are digging out your remaining launchers and missiles with no ability to replace them,” he said. “You can dig out for now, but you can’t reconstitute.”
Hegseth said US forces were tracking Iranian movements and could strike key infrastructure if ordered.
“We are locked and loaded on your critical dual use infrastructure, on your remaining power generation and on your energy industry,” he said.
He added the blockade was already restricting Iran’s energy flows.
“Your energy is not moving and will not move,” Hegseth said, adding the US Navy controls traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has no hopes pinned on negotiations with the United States and does not trust the other side despite entering talks in good faith, an Iranian lawmaker said on Thursday.
Vahid Ahmadi, a member of parliament’s national security commission, said it was now up to the United States to decide whether it was willing to accept Iran’s demands.
The MP said if Washington did not respond positively, Iran would have no hesitation about continuing the war.
“It is now up to the United States to decide whether it can accept Iran’s demands. If it does not, the Islamic Republic will have no hesitation in continuing its course and the war,” he said.

My assessment:
The IRGC ran through every option. Set markets on edge, no effect. Pressed Gulf states, no shift. Threatened Hormuz, unsustainable as it threatens China as well. Leaned on proxies, limited impact.
The deeper issue lies in their reading of the moment. For years, they operated against U.S. administrations that tolerated delay and kept negotiations alive. Even under Joe Biden, with concessions and attempts to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, there remained room to maneuver. Every single time a U.S. president tried to leave the Middle East or stabilize it so that others take care of their own security, the U.S. gets even more involved given how it never really gets to the bottom of it: an agressive Islamic Republic with proxies across the region.
They now face Trump, who shortens timelines and prioritizes closure. The objective centers on ending the file and reducing U.S. exposure in the region. In that setting, delay offers no advantage to IRGC. In their minds, time buys survival, but it narrows drastically their options as Trump weakens them, hits their command and control, humiliates them, and tightens their economic margins as well. They have no other choice.

The blockade appears to be successful so far in putting more pressure on Iran and relieving pressure on the US.
China says they don’t acknowledge the blockade. Xi is on a campaign to try to get themselves positioned as the trusted partner instead.

I got ripped on here for saying the 2 week ceasefire was pointless and we should've just leveled them instead. Now it seems it was really pointless.

It gave JD a chance at negotiations which ultimately failed. Trump smartly responds with “I really don’t think gas prices will fall by midterms” showing that he’s committed to the long game.
Knock on wood, but the white house strategy has seemed to be working well

I get your point, but breathing room was needed.
If what Trump is saying that they are on the cusp of a workable solution, that works for me.

Well so far it's been great. No more strikes. Stock market back up. US looking more favorable in the media with the blockade. Tons of tankers heading to USA.
Ceasefire\blockade has 100% changed the tide in social opinion to favor us when it was originally favoring Iran due to their "control" over the strait.

And if it breaks down things will go right back to how it was. I don't disagree with what we are doing just saying that if we had continued bombing them for this last week or so this thing might already be completely over or closer to being over.

It just seems like Trump/Vance are negotiating with certain people, but then when it comes down to agreeing to a deal the IRGC folks enter the picture and take control and throw everything out the window. The ones Trump and Vance are talking to aren't the ones they need to be talking to, and I highly doubt the ones they need to be talking to will ever agree to our demands.

Has allowed the US military to catch its breath and allowed for far greater intelligence gathering which will hasten the hardliners demise, coupled with the blockade and all.
