This may be what’s happening. It feels like Trump is moving towards strengthening ties in the Middle East, while stepping away from Europe. In terms of business investment and growing economies it might the right play.

We'll make buddies with the existing Muslim countries while the future Muslim countries in Europe complete their transition. Not sure I like that idea, though the existing structure of being allied with the socialist, one-world government types isn't exactly working out well either.

It is absolutely preposterous IMO to be mad at NATO countries for not joining this war if they weren’t consulted beforehand.

I think this point exactly dictates the difference in opinions.

I for the life of me can't see how you miss my point.
You probably feel the same.

Here is the rub.
Escorting a tanker out of the strait "is not participating in a war. Is not participating in a military action. Is acting on the actual functioning role of a peacetime navy".

Refusing to do non-military action. Non-aggressive action.
That blows my mind.
And it frustrates the he'll out of me from our "allies".

Now. I don't ignore danger. I don't ignore risk.
But the request in zero way is asking for an alliance nation to take part in aggression towards Iran.

Now tell me what I am not seeing.
Where is my logic wrong?

I agree. We are moving away from Europe not because we want nothing to do with them, but instead because they have deemed us the enemy.

I view it like this. The EU states are like a bunch of little children. We keep telling them what the should do, but they ignore the advice. Now we are stepping back and are going to let them make their mistakes and this time we will not bail them out.

Analogy would be a rich powerful father who's kids are acting out. At some point you need to let the fail.

And like most fathers you give them that one last chance. Stern warning to put consequences in black and white knowing they will not listen. And when they act out again, everyone knows they were properly warned and have no argument against their coming punishment/consequences.

NYT: The elimination of Ali Larijani is causing anxiety among many regime officials in Iran. “There was a widespread feeling of anxiety that Israel would not stop until all Iranian leaders were killed and the Islamic Republic fell." Two senior Iranian officials described their security concerns: one said he received calls from other officials worried about the safety of Iran's leaders and their own. Everyone wondered, "Who will be the next target?" he said. Another senior official said he trembled when he received the news of Larijani's killing.

I can understand the impulse to be angry with our "allies", but the UK/Europe and the US have been drifting apart for a while now. There have been times when France seemed more aligned with Moscow than Washington. The Euros get defensive when anyone suggests they haven't carried their weight in NATO, or that we need to even up our balance of trade. Euro politicians are hard left, leaning toward authoritarianism and the UK isn't far behind. Their news media has been anti-US for decades. They get angry at any suggestion that the Ukraine proxy war is an ill-advised, ill-planned killing field (and then proclaim that the two week war in Iran is a disaster). The Economist magazine was vitriolic toward US capitalism well back into the 1980's when I read every issue, so these trends predate Trump.

No point in getting mad. Alliances come and go. This one seems to have run its course.

I was speaking of the financial support for NATO itself.

Nope, they weren't consulted because they would have tipped of Iran. They are not our allies in the traditional meaning anymore. They are drifting towards policy that does not align with America.
