The Army estimates that 75% of Americans age 17-24 are unable to join the military for either weight/health issues, failure to obtain a HS degree, or for criminal convictions.

This generation is nothing more than gamer kids who spend all day on websites like Tigerdroppings. I doubt 3/4 of you could run a mile if someone had a gun to your head.

And for you Baby Boomers, your willingness to dope your kids with ADHD meds is backfiring as anticipated. Your kid's dependency on medication ensures they will never be able to be depended on in their country's military. Once again you have shot this country in the foot. But given the fact your generation spit on Soldiers returning from war, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I am disgusted with these results.

Fun Fact: Louisiana is worse than the national average on obesity, failure to graduate HS, and adults on probation or parole.

Who needs some fancy high school diploma!

What is worse is you have a lot of dim kids who think they are going to drop out of high school and join the miliary.

And the services drop the boom and tell them they need college credit to join. So then they have to get their high school diploma AND take college classes just to be a grunt.

It would be hilarious if it weren't so sad.

The obvious first thing the federal government can do to change the direction of the obesity epidemic is to revamp the food stamp program and restrict the offerings to only food items suitable for a healthy diet and nothing more.

The junk food lobby would never allow that.

Welfare puts so much money in their pockets and all they have to do is perpetuate the idea that its the poor people are the problem and they don't benefit from it.

I don't know if it's a national security issue, but obesity is a huge problem

This. You'd think they have our best interest at heart. They continue to allow the general public to be addicted to sugar which drives not only junk food, but healthcare costs as well.

Just people watch one day and recognize all the fatties. I feel pity on them, it isn't a lack of exercise that's killing them, it is a lack of food knowledge and eating crap that is killing them. Their poor bodies are trying to regulate the excess sugar pouring into the blood stream. No wonder anxiety, diabetes, and obesity are on the rise...

I understand the weight/fitness requirements but how the hell can you be too stupid to join the military?

I get what you're saying but the junk food lobby doesn't get a vote on the matter. If your problem is cronyism then blame the corrupt members of Congress.

When it comes to obesity, poor people are the problem.

Well there are a number of people that drop out of HS and also don't get a GED instead. So it's not that many of them are too stupid (but some definitely are), it's just that they don't care.

Trust me, I have met plenty of knuckledragging ASVAB waivered retards in the Army. There are people who can barely read in our ranks.

I don't think stupidity is the problem. The ROTC guy I know said it's all physical. He says about 10% of HS boys are not capable of doing 1 sit up. And 20% are not capable of doing 1 push up.

What percentage of baby boomers do you think actually did this?

Makes me proud as hell I was able to join USMC infantry at age 25 and do what most kids cant do at 18. I always thought I was a little soft or weak because of the pain during the long runs. Then I found out after discharge I had flat feet and never used any inserts my whole time enlisted.

frick millennials. They need to change that shite to 90s babies and younger.

better question would be how many did it because the media fake newsed the frick out of it to make it seem like " the norm" for young people.
