People have become so spoiled in this country. Tell that guy to go to a third world country where people are starving and tell them how oppressed he is in his 3x shirt.

What's one more body in the street in the grand scheme of things. Ok, maybe we count him as two but still...

I’m guessing he can still ride out the winter on the stored reserves.

America does not have a hunger problem

The “studies” that show “food insecurity” include some stupid definition about “not having access to certain foods you want”

Poor people don't do well in any economy. That's why they're poor.

Obviously...these poor people were probably poor before the recession, were relatively poorer during, and are now back to being pre-recession poor.

Wanna see the survey that determines if people are "going hungry"?

quote:

“During the past 12 months, because of a lack of money or other resources, was there a time when…

1. You were worried you would run out of food?
2. You were unable to eat healthy and nutritious food?
3. You ate only a few kinds of foods?
4. You had to skip a meal?
5. You ate less than you thought you should?
6. Your household ran out of food?
7. You were hungry but did not eat?
8. You went without eating for a whole day?

I shite you not. LINK

Last year, I beached the shite out of my boat by running up on a sandbar. Had to wait 6 hours until high tide to get off of it.

I missed a meal because of that. MOAWR WELFARE!!!

I remember when I was a broke college student buying ramen and keystone light standing in line behind people with their Louisiana Purchase Card. They were able to fill their cart with the best trash food.

If this guy was hungry growing up it's because he didn't get his 2 LBs of tendies and lb of fries nightly.

I don’t believe that any American adult is going hungry unless they have serious mental health issues or drug problems. Someone should be taking care of you if you aren’t even capable of redeeming food stamps. I do think kids should be fed at schools in case their parents aren’t taking care of them properly.

Actually the article I linked isn't about the poor still being poor...I read that earlier, also from the NYT, LINK, looks like a series about 10 yrs after the recession. I conflated the two.
