What I don't understand is, why the waste of a missile? The first missile destroyed the boat, right? The survivors are in the middle of the sea, clinging to debris. Either rescue them for whatever intelligence you can get, or let the sharks have them. They aren't going to survive and they almost certainly have no way to contact anyone.

They don't want to gather intelligence, because the primary purpose isn't to stop drugs from going to Trinidad and Tobago. The primary purpose is to intimidate Maduro by blowing up boats near Venezuela.

Nobody is actually concerned about the drug runners. Not even the libs. They are trying to sow political hay leading up to the mid terms. It will get worse over the next year.
