Bin Laden was armed, as were several others in his compound. They engaged SEALs.

This incident being reported on was the first strike on the boats. In later strikes some survivors were rescued and repatriated. I assume they learned from their earlier mistake.There's a dispute over whether Hegseth gave a verbal order for the first strike to "kill everybody.” The Admin is claiming he never gave a verbal order. I haven't heard about a standing order.

What does it matter who gave the order? If they warranted the initial attack then obviously needed to die and that means until the job is done.
