the new york times receives millions in advertisements from china.
If they don't go lockstep with china, the money will be cut off and then the ny times will not be able to do the very important work that it does.
So it is vitally important that the times spread this chinese disinformation. They know it is bad, but they they are doing it for the greater good.
You see, if they keep taking the chinese propaganda, they will keep making money and then they can keep saying orange man bad.
If they keep saying orange man bad enough, he might not get re-elected which is what the chinese, well also the new york times want.

I thought Carlos Slim was the one who held them by the balls.
Does China hold them by the balls? Is that why it is perpetually a big multi-cultural circle jerk around there?

This story may have resonance for those of us old enough to remember the NYT's goat-rodeo coverage of the US Govt looking for Iraqi WMD's. What you had there was the White House and the DOD pushing Langley harder and harder to find something that ended up not being there and the Times getting taken by some bogus sources and in the process moving public opinion in favor of a war that ended up being fought unnecessarily with distastrous results that we're still feeling today. I suspect they don't want to get played like that again.

Again, it takes a lot of logic pretzels to get to the point where you read an article that identifies a concerted Chinese disinformation campaign, and come away thinking the article accepts what China says as the truth.
quote:So either you are illiterate, or a duplicitous pro-chinese hack. Because NO scientist or intel official outside of the CCP says there is an "overwhelming probability is that it leapt from animal to human in a nonlaboratory setting." In fact there is virtually zero chance of that occurring in Wuhan.
Most intelligence agencies remain skeptical that conclusive evidence of a link to a lab can be found, and scientists who have studied the genetics of the coronavirus say that the overwhelming probability is that it leapt from animal to human in a nonlaboratory setting, as was the case with H.I.V., Ebola and SARS.

fricking Traitorous scum at the NYT.

quote:Exactly. The difference is in those 2004 instances, they realized with WHO officials already in Beijing, a cover up would be very difficult. It is one reason they set up their P4 BioLab away from Beijing. In 2004 the WHO ended up with extensive access to the P3 Beijing facility and procedures. It found significant breeches.
They also had SARS leak from their labs in the past. Twice. This is not an isolated example.
Fast-forward 16 years to the CV19 case, and even after 6 months, no inspectors have been allowed anywhere near the facility.

Read the comments on the article. Wow. I have officially lost all faith in America moving forward.

"All of the evidence points to this not being a laboratory accident," says Jonna Mazet, a professor of epidemiology at the University of California, Davis and director of a global project to watch for emerging viruses.
Virus Researchers Cast Doubt on Laboratory Accident Theory
If you find out this lady or the other dozen of folks cited in this article are Chinese citizens, let me know.

typical leftist tactic
Who determined that someone has to be a Chinese citizen to carry their water?

They have it backwards. This is coming from the IC, not the administration.

quote:"Virtually no chance"???
Virus researchers say there is virtually no chance that the new coronavirus was released as result of a laboratory accident in China or anywhere else.
The assessment, made by more than half-a-dozen scientists familiar with lab accidents and how research on coronaviruses is conducted, casts doubt on recent claims that a mistake may have unleashed the coronavirus on the world.
Meanwhile, SARS escaped Chinese Labs ––– TWICE ––– in the past.
"Virtually no chance", and yet China's leading virologist lost several days of sleep worrying that the CV19 outbreak would (or could) be tied to her lab.
But your dog doctor says a lab sourced CV19 outbreak is "impossible". While I do wonder if her reference to "lab sourced" refers a black-dog or a facility, I guess your dog doctor and her sundry colleagues would say Shi Zhengli is a know-nothing imbecile to suspect her own Wuhan lab (facility, not dog) as a source.
Again, veterinary and "holistic" opinions aside, science addresses facts.
There is ZERO factual evidence of a CV19 transmission vector being present in Wuhan outside of a lab. NONE! If you or the dog doctor have antithetical information to that, by all means lay it out.
quote:
Shi instructed her group .... meanwhile she frantically went through her own lab’s records from the past few years to check for any mishandling of experimental materials, especially during disposal. Shi breathed a sigh of relief when the results came back: none of the sequences matched those of the viruses her team had sampled from bat caves. “That really took a load off my mind,” she says. “I had not slept a wink for days.”

Regardless of where CV19 came from, this:
is Third Reich level insanity. Literally making viruses more dangerous.
