The music I listen to is probably not super mainstream. I enjoy a lot of instrumental music these days. Not for everyone but an example of some artists would be FKJ, Hermanos Gutierrez, Khruangbin, Glass Beams...
As far as more mainstream stuff some bands like Kings of Leon and Muse were some of my favorites for a time. Huge bands like Metallica have put out great music post 2000.
All that being said I also listen to music that was around before I was born. I like bands like Led Zeppelin and Steely Dan. Generally speaking I like stuff with good guitar work and usually something with a decent bass line.
This would be an example of something I enjoy that I think is pretty middle of the road that

My 14 year old listens to Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters and Van Halen. I’m really not upset.

Why do people dislike the eagles? Not my favorite but I don’t get the hate…
Why do people love journey?

Audience wants rap today like boomers wanted disco in the late 1970s. Six months of that crap was too long.

You're welcome. Figured I could at least give you the courtesy of a real response. Just took me a few minutes to collect my thoughts since I'm in my phone.

You think Don Henley likes Trump or Republicans? Lol
The irony to Henley is his End of the Innocence, was written for America 2021-2025. He was just premature projecting.
Tired old man we elected king? *biden, eh? LOL
Not legitimately elected, we know.

Nice
Reading through the thread thinking that the “music sucks now” folks need to go to a Tedeschi Trucks show
There is great music out there
Just gotta find it

Honestly, I think part of it is not wanting to give a white male that kind of platform anymore.
Does it ever get tiring being a perpetual victim? I hope one day your balls drop.

Ya gotta luv it, old people who think the creation of good music ended with their generation.

Well, at least you're consistent.
Go check out how the black racists in the WNBA have treated Caitlin Clark, or how Sydney Sweeney has been maligned for a simple play-on-words in a jeans commercial. Then get back to me, little man.
I'm not any kind of victim, but you're full of shite if you think you can deny the current anti-white bigotry that exists in this country.
Obtw, the Good Guys are winning. No need for victimhood.

I never said it was my generation. I'm simply smart enough to know that music has gone downhill ever since the 1970's and 1980's. It's not my fault if you're too dumb to see it.

Damn dude
Internet political discussion has rotted your brain
Betcha if you tried, you could find some good live music happening near you, right now
If not, then find something streaming
Billy Strings is playing tonight. It’ll be streaming on nugs
There’s good shite out there for you to listen to, and you need it

Woke joke lefties like you and ommg are wrong about everything. Wrong about politics, wrong about music, etc.
Hey, cheer up. Maybe Kamala or AOC will win in 2028. Meanwhile, enjoy 3.5 more years of OMB.

Without a doubt. And my list is a very partial list of things that I like. I just wanted it to be more focused on some things that I've been listening to recently and not overwhelm Jbird with an unnecessarily long list. But yeah plenty of great stuff out there. It might take some effort to find but it's there.

I’ve been you before
Well, I’ve never whined about racism in the WNBA, but I’ve definitely held the stance that there isn’t any good new music being made.
But I was wrong, and am glad that I’ve found lots of new stuff in the last 5ish years that I enjoy now. 5 years ago my streams would be
90% pre-2000, while now it’s probably 50/50
Spare me the “you’re a leftist” bullshite. I’m nowhere near the left.
The left is full of lazy, whiney pussies engrossed in perpetual victim hood. It’s obvious that this describes you much more than it does me.

Tedeschi Trucks is definitely a solid go-to, if you wanna drop something on a “there’s no good music anymore” boomer
I’m not the biggest fan, but I haven’t listened to very much. I’m going to see them in October, and I expect I’ll come away from the show a bigger fan than I am now.
