The two people I know who worked at one interviewed for it just like any job when recruiters came to campus. One was very smart and used the job to get a Georgetown law degree and then quit. The other was a History major who was bright enough but stayed on the job for many years, milking the system to maximize his salary while his peers did the same. Again, just like many jobs in the private sector.
One guy told me about the second round of interviews where they did extensive background checks and flew people up to DC. They sat the person in a chair like and started firing off detailed questions about the person’s youth, etc (What were you thinking when….Is it true you….) They didn’t wait for answers and he said that at least one person broke down and they told that person to check out of the hotel and fly home immediately.

My SIL is a Secret Service agent. Took him a while to get accepted and he was exceptionally qualified. His best friend is black and got accepted pronto. He readily admits it was because of his color.

I knew a career CIA fella here in the Caribbean, now passed away so no harm to tell stories.
Im an Auburn grad and remember Haspel came to Auburn a few years ago to give a speech? I asked him about that and he laughed he said "she was crutin man". Kids with conservative patriotic values, good IT program, good engineering program. Lot of the folks end up in foreign developing countries "working" on IT infrastructure in their govt.
Some amazing stories from across the globe. Lets just say if you watched Narcos on Netflix....he was in there.
